Who joined a private club this year so far?

I agree 1000%. How can you call it an "equity" membership when you literally have no equity. Current rules of the club I joined was your equity was $100. Current full status member initiation is $15K. So for $15k a guy gets rights to $100 when he leaves. We were in on one of those "special" deals and live down the street so I looked at it as the cost of doing business to have access to the facility.

I'm interested in what you guys are paying. Much too much for me! I joined a semi-private links course in Northern England which hosts Regional Qualifying for the Open Championship. I pay £560/$650 a year and there are no other costs. Yes, we get visitors, but they are restricted to certain tee times which I can easily work around. My last club in the South of England was £1100/$1350 a year.

 


 

Why is golf so much more expensive in the USA?

 

PS £70 for a days golf, £80 at the weekend and only 1 hour from Edinburgh.

Don't tell everyone though!
