Ping g20 irons vs cleveland cg16

Hi everyone. 16 handicap. I have been playing my g20's reg flex for the last 5 years. Iron game is a weakness. I tend to hook my pings a bit too much so I was thinking of getting a stiff set on the cheap side and found the cg16's in stiff flex for a good price.

Driver ss a bit over 100mph

I know they are old but for the money I think they are worth a try since I don't play enough to get fit on a brand new set. They are pretty much the same type of sticks so my guess is they should not play that different from the pings but maybe help a bit with dispersion.

Anyone played both in the last decade?

I used G20's for a couple of seasons and also had some CG7 Black's, which were the predecessors of the CG16. Of the two the Cleveland's are a little smaller, less offset, and less forgiving. I liked both and think you should be okay with the Cleveland's.

Less offset sounds good but less forgiveness might be a concern for me as I get a lot of mishits, especially toe hits. Maybe the 16s improved a bit on forgiveness?

I would love to find another g series set but they are hard to find used at decent prices these days here in Canada.

Plenty of them but for not for leftys and the ones I find are all regular or senior flex.

CG16s were tge first irons I bought new. Easy to hit. Cannot go wrong with them.

Mate still runs cg16s i regripped em 2 years ago,they dont hook!

I ordered the cg16 set. I should be able to try them next weekend so I will give some feedback.
