Mizuno MP20 MMC Measurement Request

Could someone with MP20 MMC in standard length take a measurement for me? I ordered a 6 iron to demo directly from Mizuno and it seems maybe a half inch longer than standard. Can you measure from end of grip to top of hosel (below ferrule) of your 6 iron? Many thanks.

I don’t have one but it’s been said that the MP-20 line is 1/4“ longer than standard.

I have a set and measured them on a golfsmith measuring board. They the 6 iron measured 37.5” without the grip. I ordered them at standard length. This is the new Mizuno standard length as they have been 1/4” short for years. I used to have to order irons 1/4” long from them. Not anymore.

Interesting. I’m coming from and comparing it to a set of MP57s so I guess clubs have gotten a touch longer over the years.

Thank you. I don’t have a golf-specific club ruler so best way I can think to normalize is taking measurement from end of hosel. If you can, could you measure end of hosel to end of grip cap? Thanks!

I built my own ruler with the help of a known-length club. Pretty easy to do it. Three screws, some tape, ruler.

I suspect it's a difference in measuring techniques and whether they measure with or without grip like mentioned above. OEMs don't all measure to the same "standards" as Howard found out, nor do golf-specific club rulers.... unfortunately for us all.

This is the 6 iron measured to the end of the grip cap. The cap adds 1/4” of length.

Thank you, that’s exactly how long mine is at standard length too. I guess standard length for Mizuno has gotten a touch longer since the MP57 days.

So you’re saying with a grip on they’re actually a 1/4” longer, and to get them to actual standard length meaning 37.5” 6 iron you actually have to now order 1/4” under, since playing length would normally include grips on?

@mbart They use a device called the UN gauge that starts the measurement from the center of the sole to the bottom of the grip cap.

Yes. But Mizuno is now finally cutting their irons to a true standard length. The grip cap IMO should not count as part of the play length of the club.
