I've tried the 53, 63, 73, 83 and 103.

IMO, It's not a distance shaft, it's more of a control shaft.

Maybe I need more testing on drier weather to tell more but they are definitely feel smoother and softer by the tip on 73 or lighter.

Joe, what is your opinion on the 53 and the 63 diaman

586

IMO, They are an OK shaft. Not tight enough for a quick tempo swinger. More of a mid kick range kind of ball flight. It looks like that Mitsubishi build the 73 or lighter for most average joe golfer and IMO it plays in a softer side. Need a proper tipping to get the right flex.

IMO 83grams or above is the real deal.

One thing that I kind of regret is that they don't have enough kick point options on every class weight. What i meant is, Say if I need a high kick point to bring the ball down on the 63 grams or if i need a low kick point on a 63 grams....They don't have that shaft!!!

They do have the options on the tour issue, Why can't they do that on the retail version? I know most people can't hit the high kick shaft but they should have an option even for a small group, so they don't have to buy tour issue stuff only. Not all players needs a tour issue also. Off course I would agree if that will fill up our ego. :rtfm:

Isn't it why we are all here? :(

I would say the same thing about control vs. distance with the Diamana. I put a 73 ION in an R7 and the combo felt great at impact, but the results were not what I expected. Everyone said distance gains were huge, but I lost about 10 yards carry.

Don't believe the HYPE!! its a decent quality shaft.. but its no Fuji or even Shaqx for that matter(I think Mitsu should have made the Diamana and extention of the Shaqx in mulpitle weights and flexs.. that would have been $$ shaft!)

Thats my 2cents, I have played the 53,63, and 73 and just wasn;t impressed, but as soon as I put my Zcom back in play it felt like coming home after a long trip...

I'm playing a 53x in my J340... I like the weight alot...does not feel overly light. Distance well I have not played it on really dry fairway yet, but I've been getting pretty good carry. I kinda still like my Fuji 771TA a little more (it's smoother)..and really good shaft I'm playing in a R510TP is the protopype 70x... very nice.

You know that is what makes this so much fun. Different strokes. The diamanas are certianly high quality. Glad to hear it works for you.

Yea, I was getting nervous after hearing some of the like warm reviews about the shaft, but was pleasantly surprised after trying it. Maybe it's the G2 head but the driver has moved out my 510/671 combo that's been in my bag for 3 years.

So many new and interesting drivers out there to try. Very envious of anyone who gets the full tour treatment on a launch monitor to dial it in exactly.

1524

A launch monitor would just take the thrill of the hunt out of the process! Seriously, it would be awesome to be REALLY fit for a driver. I'd bet most people would end up with a softer shaft and more loft.

I've been playing the 73x in a 10.5 R7 for about a month now and I would say that there are definatly some shafts that are longer but none that are more accurate. Its really a smooth feeling shaft thats tough to overload, my misses are much more playable especially when i really go after a ball. Its an expensive shaft for sure, but after a certain point whats another 300 bucks on a shaft anyways. It's a 175 dollar pull.

I completely agree w/ you due to many of the launch monitor session has not been fair in term of putting a fair fight between shaft's spec, Ball spec, and Head spec.

I understand also for the shop to do that will be a very expensive set up and the guy really have to be very patient to test them one by one and last but not least, knows every single shaft's character that he handle in his shop.

That is why I have a better success w/ what i call "Playing Fitting" and combine w/ "driving range session".

BTW, Glad to see you finally came out of your cave. :(

I got my Cleveland Comp 9.5 on thursday with my Diamana 73x and absolutely killed it. my old R7 TP is getting put in the garage. i was carrying it about 15 yards farther than the TP. the best part was i hit this club straight. this is staying in my bag.

I play a Tour 10.5* R580Xd with a Fuji 553X tipped 1/2" at 45" and D-6 SWt.. I absolutely love this combo.

Decided to put a club together for my club pro son. It's a Tour 7.5* R580XD with a Diamana 83X untipped at 45" and D-4 SW. He hits it considerably higher and farther than I do so this appears to be about right for him.

But my attempts to hit the club proved to me just how stout the Diamana 83X is. Though this head doesn't have enough loft for me , I could hit it .

The Diamana 83X is quite a bit stiffer than my tipped Fuji 553X. It felt very much like steel (DGX-200-300 range which I used to hit 30 years ago) to me with a nice kick at impact but the combination created a very low trajectory, that was very straight, but carried 30-40 yards shorter than my driver.

Be careful with tipping of the Diamana 83X unless you've got clubhead speed of 115-120mph or more--you don't need to tip it much at all! I'm normally in the 110-115mph range.

 • 2 weeks later...
I have hit the matt blue 93 x, the TP 55 LT x and TP 65 LT x. I would agree that these are high quality shafts. I would also agree that these seem to favor control vs. distance. Very expensive and I'm not sure these will take off at the $275-$300 price point. I know Tiger uses one but Tiger could win using a piece of bamboo tied to a coconut.

I'm still a big fan of the Shaqx and Bleex from the tour only line. Shaqx is one of the best feeling driver shafts IMHO. high kick and low torque.

What I unclear on is the TM TP 55, 65 etc. I know these are tour only Mitsubishi with diamana technology but they have variable kick points(LT,MT,HT) unlike the retail Diamana line. Anyone have more info on this issue?

Hey jc,

Where can i get them bamboo/coconut combo???

Im definitely a fuji man but i like the 63 xflex tipped about 3/4 inches, bouces at 264 cpm... i have on my 580xd tp. Great control shaft but no where near my 660tr distance. I'll be putting one on a R7 head so i can compare them better.
