Scott and I are out at 6:40 Tuesday morning at Maryvale. Tickets start at just $10 and proceeds go towards me getting a new putter.

I thought it was for my new driver :)

Scott (ricar1610) humbled me this morning. He played some great golf, especially on the front nine. More importantly he is a fantastic guy to share a round of golf with. See y'all in the consolation round!

Final score? post some details...bloody or not!

The details are that he made four birdies on the front nine and I wasn't able to play my best unfortunately. It was a great, friendly match. I was 3 down after the front 9, I think he closed me out on 14. Considering I was pretty much playing on one leg I'm happy that I lasted that long

I shot 38 on the front and was 3 down. I think it was 5&4, maybe 6&4.

I can concur that Wally was doing his best Tiger 2008 US Open impression. He literally could not get to his front side. He gutted it out and it was a fun match. Looking forward to playing with him again and on 2 good legs :)

I was fortunate to play well today - although it was good I won when I did since I bogeyed the last 4 holes after the match :)

Whatever happens in this thing it is cool to meet some great guys that can play some golf!

BTW Maryvale is in the best shape I have ever seen it - and I practice and play there all the time...the greens are not overly fast but they are true and smooth...the fairways are nice too and what rough there is has not been cut for awhile. Just in case you were wondering...

to shoot 38 and still be down 3 would be brutal! Good luck in the next match.

What was the final decision if a match is all square after 18? My suggestion:

-try and play more holes (sudden death) for free pending proshop approval
-if not able to play more, flip a coin...heads is a putt off, tails is a chip off with putting out required (low gross, rotate who picks the shot, player hitting 2nd cannot watch shot).
-whoever won a hole the most recently, picks the exact shot (putt or chip however was decided by coin toss), whoever lost most recently picks the order.

Am I complicating stuff too much? I just think with all of these matches, this could/will happen and there needs to be a format for it to not end up an issue.
I could see a strong putter who just witnessed some yips from his competitor pushing for a putt off, and vice versa. Im super easy going and would do whatever, but I feel this is better brought up now as opposed to after it has happened.

I think we stated earlier to do everything you can to play extra holes.

ok cool...I guess I missed the part where city courses allow free replay. That is definitely best. cheers!

Tough match against Ryan this morning....we bounced back and forth most of the round. I made a good read on 15 and sunk my putt to go 2 up with 3 to go.

Both of us hit good shots into 16 and neither birdie putt fell, so on 17 I hit a good drive to just in front of the green and a decent little chip to get par and sneak away with the match.

It was a good morning and a nice quick round. Good seeing Sam and Mark too!
