There's plenty of people that hate good ol' Double D, but you can't tell me that the biggest Word not allowedclown on that show is Gary. The guy talks so much smack and can't back up a single thing he says!! At least Donatello has some game. How can anyone be a student of Gary?! The guy is--to borrow a phrase from The Rock--a giant pile of monkey crap.

Gary was totally ridiculous last night. I watched Big Break at Trump National, but I didn't remember Gary ever being so arrogant and popmpus. "We have two different mindsets. I'm a strong player trying to win, Mark is just trying to survive." Are you nuts? Kicking sand around while someone else is swinging?

 

Totally ridiculous. I'm extremely glad Mark won the challenge.

My 2 cents:

 

I agree most of the posts here. Gary was out of line and was not a gentleman - on almost every occasion.

 

That being said (and to play devils advocate for a minute), the golf channel picked people for this show that they thought would bring EVEN MORE drama to the show. Gary did that.

 

Gary's flying LEFT elbow on his follow through may work great at his home course, but it doesn't bode well for consistant shot making under pressure - to go left he has to pull the ball because the face can't be consitantly rotated through impact is just one of the problems I am sure he faces.

 

The only difference to me between Gary and Don is that Don backs his brash talk up more times than not - Gary doesn't. Had Gary made any of those shots, he might still be on the show. Simply put, his expectaions outweighed his ability to perform.

 

Many of the statements that he made, while: in poor taste, arrogant and at times bitter, were statments of truth:

"Cindy has no confidence in her game"

"Mark is one of the weakest players"

"Just be confident before you hit (regarding Cindy's reality comment)

 

I think it was very unfortunate OR fortunate considering how you look at it that Gary got paired with Cindy. I know the age/teaching pro thing looked like a good match - but it was unfair pairing to both of them as they are both 2 of the weaker players in the group and alas, they both went home as a result of it.

 

GARY made 2 mistakes that cost him more than once on the Big Breaks:

1) Never underestimate ANY of your opponents!!!!

2) Jack Nicklaus said it best and it is one of my favorite quotes concerning your opponents:

"If a guy beats you, shake his hand and congragulate him and MEAN it! If you think you are good and he beats you, then he must be pretty good too."

 

YES, I am GLAD Gary got beat. We have all played with/against a GARY and ya just want to take out your 7 iron and wrap it around people like thats neck sometimes. I feel bad for Cindy although she wouldn't have lasted much longer with her lack of confidence IMO.

 

And to answer your question now that Gary is gone, DON hands down. There would be NOTHING enjoyable about playing with that guy. If you beat him, you would hear all the whining/rationalizations and if he beat you, he is one of those guys that pull wings of a fly just to watch it hop - he would rub it in your face and brag etc. - bad etiquette from all that I have seen.

 

After that and not far behind is BRI - There is a spoiled brat/pretty girl snotty side to her that I am sure we will see more of as the pressure mounths.

i like don...he's very intense... nothing better than his comments on the big break 2... " you guys need to get some game" ... classic and i use it often.

 

don is a good golfer and he backs it up. He never says "bad" things about other players....

 

bri is a bit.....brat....and i dont like her... i like ashlee... i was surprised at vals little outbreak...

The thing that also bothered me was the arrogance when gary shook Mark's hand. I am a firm believer that wether you win or lose, when shaking your opponents hand look at them in the eyes. Nothing worse than a poor loser who sticks his hand out and doesn't even look at you. In our group if you pull that sucky attitude we just shake your hand as long as it takes until you make eye contact.

 

On a side note you gotta love the comment from Eddie about mark going to Dicks and buying a tennis racquet...now that was funny!

i hope he has fun playing by himself from now on at his home course. i'm sure his phone was ringing off the hook at his club....with people wanting to cancel lessons.

 

as far as the reality show editing and "designing characters", he still said all of that stuff, no matter what the editing. and his swing is awful. nuff said

Gary isn't even a good player. He thinks he's the best but has very little to back it up. His swing is flat out terrible and he needs a big dose of reality. Hopefully he watched the show and will realized what a big jack*** he was.

Honestly - if the guy had been hitting the dirt with his club when it wa my turn, I would have gone over and broken it over my knee - now THAT would have been some drama! I would think he was lucky to walk out of thre.

Great to see Mark beat him. I really like Mark, eventhough he might be the weakest player. Gary was arrogant from the beginning in the previous season. "he's trying to survive, i'm trying to win the whole thing, its a different mind set". LOL. Got whack some balls on the range will ya.

I actually like Val's comments. Dude was riding her jock after she hit that poor tee shot that left her a natural 5 wood into the green. I probably would have told him to hush it too!

 

Ashley...as time goes on she's looking better. Dare I say it but she's cuter than Bri. Bri is just slimmer from the waist down.
