Yururi Flatbacks

Recommended Posts

New to the JDM game and am absolutely fascinated with Yururi flatbacks...which means I'm looking to get a set. Would any of you guys have a recommendation on the best place I get these from?

Not sure if best price...but a good friend in SIngapore ordered from here quite often and for him it was a piece of mind thing as all will be 100% legit. Large issue of counterfeiting in south east Asia. When you are dealing with these types of clubs, fakes are around and lower prices raise flags for me after living there and learning the ropes for a few years.

The Flatbacks are beauties, and in the hands of a good player, a pleasure to hit.

www.tourspecgolf.com is the place to go. They deal in the highest quality JDM equipment, and when you talk to them, you can specify exactly what you want and they get to know you and your game and what works for you (including shafts). Sure, it costs, but what you get is worth it if you're the type of player who would appreciate a club like the Flatback. I've dealt with them for a while now, and I'm continually amazed at their level of service. You hear from them and get what you want direct from Japan faster than you can order a club in the US by far. Puts US "stores" to shame if you're the kind of guy who appreciates high quality and impeccable service.

I agree with above. I have bought several clubs from them. Very professional. If you get a "good deal" on these from somewhere else, beware.

The Yururi Flatbacks are awesome. No debate there. (I wish I had the game for them). You can also get them from Fairway Golf USA (a legit site, and sponsor of GolfWRX). They are the same price, but no charge for shipping. They have all the options available for shafts, grips, loft and lie online as well. TSG should be able to do all the same stuff, but I didn't see any options on their website. You may need to call for a quote on upcharges.

Callaway Rogue ST Max - Tensei AV White - 8*
Taylormade M3 HL - MFS5 White Tie 60S -0.75" (42.5")

Mizuno JPX 923 HMP - 4-G - Recoil 95 S - 2* upright

Callaway X-JAWS - 52/58*

Odyssey OWorks 2ball  -  34" - 1* loft - 71* lie
Slighter Proto 1 #9/Del Mar design - High Toe - Long neck - Deep Milled face - 33", 370gr, lie 71*, loft 4*

I've dealt with fairwaygolf several times as well - they do great work, have several jdm demo clubs. i currently play the yururi flatbacks and are by far the best irons i've ever played. they are more forgiving than i expected and tend to have a stronger trajectory. i recommend spending quite a bit of time figuring out the correct shaft for your swing as well.

What shafts are you playing currently? I was thinking of the Nippon Modus 120s in this. Currently playing Project X satins in 6.5 and looking for better feel.

for anybody who's bought the Flatbacks from Tourspec or Fairwaygolf, what bore size have you gotten? TSG told me they were .355 but when I got them they were .370. I just inquired with Fairwaygolf and they told me they were .355...
I still installed tapertip shafts in the flatbacks (using brass shims) and they were fine... but both of these outfits don't want to tell you that very important piece of info...

Mine were .355. Where did you buy them and were they new?

I just dont see both would purposely give you the wrong info or withhold the info. They quoted you per spec of the irons. Yururi is a small boutique manufacturer so the tolerance could be off. They had quality issues a few years back if I recall.

They are gorgeous. I actually just got a set of Vega MBs that look very similar but still itching for these Yururis!

I bought mine from TSG, and yes they were new - very nicely packaged and the exact gram weight labeled on each head. I inquired by email a couple of times before ordering about the bore size and were told they were .355, but when I got them they were indeed .370. I simply used brass shims to install taper tip shafts and they have worked fine. I've been playing them for the last month after not playing them for about 18 months... they are superb. I just inquired about the bore size from Fairway golf and they told me they "thought" they were .355. But if you notice neither TSG or FG lists that information for their iron heads on their sites. In fact Fairway Golf told me they didn't release that information for any irons except Yururi's because all other irons are sold as finished clubs. As I told them, I still want to know because I despise parallel tip shafts in my irons, so it is indeed an important piece of info...

There's nothing quite like nutting a Flatback. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed mine. FYI, I have the Raw Black finish and the way they look as you wear them in is pretty bad a**.

Got pics u can share?

Yes, I will try to upload some by next week. I think the way they wear looks really cool and the raw finish is prone to rusting so you have to be a little cautious there. As long as you keep the heads dry the wear looks awesome.

sorry for the late reply - i play tour issue s400, spine, flow, etc. I'm also considering switching out the shafts with the modus 3 130g, but still trying to decide.
