What putter did he buy at Edwin Watts

Mark Calcavecchia said he bought a putter at Edwin Watts earlier this week, and shot 62 today. Wondering if anyone knows which putter he picked up......must have been cool for the guys at the golf store.

I think that was the model he purchased before...years ago when he did something comparable to this recent purchase.

I believe he said he bought the B61 during the tournament he wan several years ago in Boston.

 

The one he is using in the PODS looks like his normal choice, an Anser.

they said it was 256 bucks. i'd guess it was a redwood anser. but they're 250+tax which means edwin watts undersold it.... looks like ew is gonna lose their ping account! hahahahahaha

ive been told tour vans leave before tournaments start so he had no access to one. i believe someone on the champions tour had to go out and buy a putter earlier this year as did pavin had to borrow a driver earlier this year as well.

Tour vans are required to leave the premises by the end of the day Wednesday. They usually will leave the city that tournament is in that night or early thursday morning to get into town for the next tournament early.

Only "Putter Guys" would scrutinize the tax rate to figure out what putter he bought.

 

I think the Redwood Anser is one of the best putters Ping has put out in a LONG time. That, and the Rapture driver are going to be huge this year.

During Calc's interview on TCC he said that Ping had already gotten his credit card info and reimbursed him for the putter. Ping gets some good publicity, Edwin Watts gets some free air time on TCC, Calc gets a free Redwood. Everyone wins.

Funny part about all this was he went in there looking for a long putter, but the store only had Odyssey long putters.

Exactly! You can't buy that type of publicity...if I were a VP of Marketing at Ping, I would quickly come out with an ad that speaks on the quality of their new Redwood putters. Strike while the iron is hot!

This really gives their OTR putters some good credibility.

It is pretty cool that he is using the same one I could go in and buy. Now that wouldn't make me buy the putter but I'm sure it could get some people to do it.
