MadGolfer's WITB - Mp-4 UPDATE

Recommended Posts

I can't believe that I missed this!!

Very nice bag, and obviously the sticks are great, though I love Sun Mountain and that's a beautiful bag-

While any fan boi can bag Mizzy irons and chirp about butter and marshmellows, only the hard core bag their metals!!

That 650 is a beast!!

Very well played!!

Have a great season Bro :)

Fairways & Greens My Friend,
Richard

In the end, only three things matter~

How much that you loved...

How mightily that you lived...

How gracefully that you accepted both victory & defeat...

GHIN: Beefeater 24

Thanks, Richard. I have experimented with some PING metals lately, but they can't compete with the 650 fairways. I will say that I have been hitting the snot out of the G15 driver I have, though. My 650 driver is currently on the DL, so the G15 is in the bag for a while along with the alternate Anser.

MadGolfer76 SPRAKKED OFF about:
"DriverWedge also recently told me he had the same problem (his "problem" is a 150-yard sand wedge with the Spinner shaft installed, though, which I can't even begin to process let alone comment on)."

How did I miss this? Spot on though. Extra distance is only cool when you meant to do it. It's trouble otherwise. Pulled the Spinners out and put my S400s back in. Normalcy has returned.... for the most part.

Yep. I still have the Mp's, but the 3Deep should find a spot in my bag for all the short and medium par 4's I find myself playing these days. Better option than trying to thread a needle with the driver. 4 wood should split the difference between a 3 and 5 when I need to go for a green. They are out there in the mail system somewhere. lol

Yeah, I don't see the 3Deep being much use off the fairway. Hence the 4.

I'll be interested to see how you like them. I have the 2 and the 5, both deep models, and love them both. Honesty don't hit the 2deep a lot since the 5 is so long and versatile. Tour Green shafts are great as well. Better feeling than the original NV, just a little more playable too. If you didn't move away from the T4 wedges our bags would look eerily similar.

I just didn't get on with those T4's. I still can't quite put my finger on what the problem was. It felt like I was just a hair off most of the time with them even when the swing itself felt good. I see what you mean about the bag comparison! I wasn't trying to do that, honestly. DW was bragging up the Bio Cell, and I read a lot about it in the forums. I had the Amp Cell Pro, and kind of dug it, so I figured the BCP would be a no brainer. Most of the courses around here are pretty short, and I like taking a fairway wood off the tee for most of them, so I thought the 3Deep would be a good choice for that kind of thing. I could have gone to a 5 wood next, but decided to split the diff with the 4 wood. I might also add a 20 or 23 hybrid, and the 17 degree fairway leave some space for separation with those. Maybe too much thinking, though. We'll see. This will probably be the last set of changed for the season.

BCP is a no brainier if you enjoyed the ACP. I hit the ACP a bunch at one demo day and really liked everything about it although it spun a little more than I wanted. The BCP is just lower spinning and a little more fade biased compared to what I remember from the ACP.

I really like the T4 54* I have. Nice sole shape and good looks, blends with the irons well. The lack of grind on the 60* does give me some issues at times. I have some vokeys coming with grinds/bounce that I am more accustomed to, just to see if it's me or the wedges.

Yep, see, that is the same thing I thought about it. I really like the E9 face tech, though. Really makes for an easy to hit driver. The Vokeys are what I always come back to, although I almost picked up another set of Yururi's though FairwayGolfUSA. Those things are killer. Should check some out if you ever have the chance.

That is my plan too. The shallower-faced 650's I have are great, and I can certainly take them off the tee, but if I miss a little high I lose yards. It came down to practice or buy another club, so...

My 3 Deep is 14.5º and is great for short par 4's or very tight driving holes. I could only find it in x-stiff, but it works fine for me. I have a 17º X2 Hot, which is great off the fairway, as well as the tee, but the 3 Deep gives me that extra yardage off the tee.

Yes it is JJ. Frankly I was surprised HOW great a club it is. :-)

And, I got if for a great price. Sale price $179, reduced to $159, talked them down to $120.

Sometimes I think you guys like to tinker more than you like to play! :-)

It's something golf related that's as close to playing without actually playing.

I have played a TON of golf this season. Scores dropped way down, even with the tinkering. Pleasant change...

So...a couple things in the wrx right now:

1) Mp 53's are getting the new satin PX 6.5's along with dark blue ferrules and blue whiteouts. Loft and lie check too.

2) Mp 650 driver is getting glued up with a Whiteboard 73x and Z-Cord. I think the repair guy told me it will come out the D5 at 45 inches.

3) PX Black 6.5 is getting a tip installed to go with the Cobra Bio Cell Pro head I scored from Boogaloo Jones off the BST. Going to the try 45.5 so I can cut it down if need be.

Will have pics by next weekend or so.

That is a crazy good setup. Screw it. Run two drivers! Let's play when you've got them all together. My irons are ready to go. We'll have a new gear party!

HOLY LEAD TAPE
[/quote]

It is entirely unholy, trust me. ;)

I think I need a Tank or a Ketsch or something like that. There is at least a roll of tape on the bottom of that putter now.

Eh...I used an Anser style putter for twenty years. I still have an Anser milled. It depends. With the weight and the stable mallet like I have in the #7, I can't mishit it. The ball travels reasonably on line even on the worst strokes I make. Hard to look that in the face and pass.
