I was actually asking for pics of bettinardi's that already have been oil canned, so I can decide whether or not it's something I want to consider. Hoganapex, I take it you don't have the putter anymore?

If you get a carbon steel Bettinardi you can always have it oil canned in the aftermarket.

Those copper putters are BEAUTIFUL. Who/where/what is DASS btw? Excuse my ignorance.

Is that greyish one the "smoked" finish?

Also regarding the BB370, according to what I've read it's electroplated, not anodized. Anodizing is aluminum is done through a oxidizing the surface, a process analagous to rusting, except that oxidized aluminmum isn't weak like rusted steel and therefore, wouldn't flake off.

Thanks, I see it on the tksputters site now. What exactly is double aged steel? I couldn't find any info on google. The smokey finish is called smoked pearl-is there actually any iridesence, and does anyone do anything like that aftermarket?

The putter I'm considering having refinished is a BHB3, so I believe it's a carbon steel.

Honestly,

Oil Cans are very hard to maintain. DASS = 303 Stainless. The smoked doesn't look too bad. Can that be done to a blackened putter?

They grey one is the smoked one. All of the Bettinardi's that are made out of aluminum like the baby and big bees and many more are all anodized. Being aluminum, Mr. Bettinardi can anodize the putter any color he wants which is actually in the metal that will not come off. The BB370 is not a copper plating. It is a copper color that was anodized. Mr. Bettinardi did make some black oxide putters for the tour only, but never in production. I hope that helps.

Your putter is carbon steel. DASS is stainless steel that is treated twice to make the metal softer as normal stainless steel can be very crisp. The smoked pearl finish is a brand new finish that Mr. Bettinardi was tinkering around with and no one else does that finish as it is a very unique finish, but there are companies out there that will make your BHB3 black.

Hey Todd, on the Copper BB2 have the slots been elastomer filled or is that a little optical illusion?

It looks like its milled into the face.

Thanks for the info. I had heard that anodizing w/ copper was rarely used, as it involved anodizing the aluminum and then somehow embedding a copper flake (or so I've heard). Due to the fact taht it's embedded rather than on the surface, the BB370 won't form any patina- is that correct?

Thank you for all the information about DASS and the finish. Does Bettinardi have a refinishing service like Cameron? If so, would he apply the black pearl finish (or is it DASS only or tour only)?

Btw, beautiful putter jcig! It looks a little dark- is that just the pics or is that what you wanted? Also, I've seen oil can finishes w/ an iridescent sheen- is that on all oil can finishes (since it is oil after all), and it's just not showing in your pics?

The BB370 will not darken as it is not copper plated. It will always stay the same. Bettinardi does refinish their putters, but only to its original finish.

thanks jcig. I like how yours came out. So yours is shiny on the face and sole, but doesn't have that rainbow patina on it?

The sole does have a bit of the rainbow hues to it (cool) If you like the rainbow hues I'd try and find out who Cameron uses to refinish there putters. Here's a Coronado I used to have that was refinished by the Cameron Studio.

The milled grooves on the hosel don't do muchh for me but I do like this putter! Finished in nickel or Oil Can would be tremendous!
