I am not familiar with this blade. My guess would be that it was after the time when Toney was in the company or a foreign copy of some sort. The markings are not what I am accustomed to seeing on his clubs

[/quote]Did'nt those have "Original" in script on the face back?

A guy played those back in the day when I was playin the Staff 17's.

They were gorgeous and I actually was gonna get a set then this guy at the club that I coukd, t stand, in fact I still can't, and he shows up with em amd is strutting around like a frickin peacock with them, so I bagged it.

I'd love to get my hands on a set today.

Have a good week Bro :)

My Best
Richard

RP I think you are right on that I will check when I get back home. I think I saw a loose 8 iron like that when I was digging out that Aussie Blade wedge for Resnor. I knew about where the wedge was but did not know what was in the bag with it. I did find 2 Snake Eyes forged wedges I forgot I had. It is funny threads on here bring back memories of days gone buy and then the light bulb goes off "pow I think I have one of those in a barrell or bag"

Original model did not have the groove or line on the top and bottom of the back of the club. Also, the Toney Penna stamp was usually on the bottom of the club

Sold in the UK by Paul Gibson Classic Clubs of Menston near Leeds in the late 80's/early 90's,he was known for his quality persimmon woods and also imported sets of pre-owned'classic' irons into the UK from the US.
About that time I bought a second set of FG-17's from him and received his catalogue with them that listed Toney Penna irons which were sourced from a forging house in the Far East,I can only speculate that he had bought the Toney Penna trademark at a time when there was little interest in it.
I bought a brand new set off him which played ok but I sold on to a pal then found another set recently on ebay UK which appeared in a post of mine on this site and coincidentally took them to the range the other day to give them an airing which proved to be a disappointment,I've been playing Apex II's and the Mac wingback CF4000 recently and the faux-Penna's didn't match them.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
