West Canada trip(AB/BC), best place to fit in a round of golf?

Guys, my girlfriend(who doesn't plays) and I are visiting Canada (BC and Alberta) end of August and the first week of September. Being from Europe, this is probably a once in a lifetime trip so I plan to play a round of golf while I'm here. Our itinerary is Calgary, banff, jasper, whistler, campbell river, vancouver). I'm looking for a real experience, reasonably priced would be preferable (rental clubs needed), perhaps a twilight option.

 

Could you guys help find a nice course along this route. I've looked at Jasper Park Lodge GC, which looks pretty nice. Any other ideas? Oh yeah, if anybody wants to join, very welcome!

while Whistler has some fine courses, it would be difficult to find two better public courses than the Jasper Park Lodge course ($185 / $145 twilight - $65 rental clubs) and the Banff Springs course ($230 / $161 - $70 rental) in either of the two provinces.

Vancouver and Campbell River do not have public courses that can measure up to these two courses.

[/quote] I've played Banff beautiful location personally I think Stewart Creek in Canmore is a better overall course, haven't played Jasper but most people I've talked to prefer it to Banff. Honestly you couldn't go wrong with any of those and they will provide you with the full "Rocky Mountain" experience

I worked at JPL for 5 years and is hands down the best option for Alberta. If you are going to be in the Invermere Valley I recommend Greywolf

We're going to have to agree to disagree here.

I live on Stewart and was a member at the Springs a couple of years ago. Stewart is an excellent track, but I would still rank it second to the Springs. Imo, the reason that JPL is more popular than Banff is that it's more of a resort course. Not nearly as demanding, with some very nice views.

If we're talking in this vicinity, I rank it Banff Springs, Stewart, Greywolf and then JPL.

Thanks guys for making this much easier . Spotted grey wolf online before, didn't know about stewart. Grey wolf is a 2.5 h drive from our stay, that doesn't help. I do like the course layout and the 6th hole.

This looks like a nice shortlist to choose from, I'll contact some courses to check out the options. I'm still looking for a playing partner though

Golden Golf and Country Club in Golden BC is worth checking out. Almost as nice as Stewart Creek and half the price.

Just returned from my Canada trip and it has been amazing!! JPL was just perfect, great course, great weather and my game was pretty good as well. Just an awesome memory.
