Yesterday was easy for work. Final Indianapolis flight to dulles took off about the time the guys clocked in at Hagerstown. Found out when we finished (approx. 9:15) that the last truck with the 3 cans of freight was not going to be rolling in due to the 56' truck drivers (DoT and Class A CDL) being at max hours.

 

So, today, we are hammered with 6219 inbound (regular is 5200-5300, so this was somewhat near a end of fiscal year type of inbound day). Finish sort at 9:00 and was set to take some 10:30 and Noon freight off a couple drivers around Charles Town and Harpers Ferry. Driver who works Harpers Ferry wants to hand me the entire mountain area (Shannondale, Mission Road,etc) so he can stay around town and then get into Shenandoah Junction earlier. Well, management already said I was to be off the road by noon and then back on the Pickup Route at 3:00 because of budgetary reasons. Co-worker complains and I turn around and tell him, 'If it was up to me, I would be on a normal route and not a split shift with the late route tonight. Wish I could help you further but it's not my call.'

 

So I take the 10:30 and Noon freight I was supposed to have and start loading it into my van. About 2 minutes later, we get notice that because of the volume of freight and the ungodly high amounts of 10:30 stops, the managers called a Service Disruption for all Priority Overnight and Standard Overnight service for our station (No clue about the other stations like Gaithersburg or Baltimore). So, I have to take back the freight I was going to take and hand it back to the others. The Harpers Ferry guy asks 'So then what are you going to do?' I replied I was going on Break then because if service is disrupted, NO extra routes are to be run. A separate Driver who is filling in for another in Martinsburg and also goes to Gerrardstown starts wondering if I could take the Gerrardstown stops to which that got the Kibosh for the same reasons.

 

So, currently home until 1-someodd this afternoon, return to the station and do the night route.

 

I have no idea what has transpired here since this morning, and I've given up trying to figure out, but this is the post of the year. No freaking clue what it even says, but it's impressive.

Dear Penthouse Forum,

 

It was in Spring, I want to say Late March. First stop of the day, a change of service call to a house in Frederick. Customer wanted new "boxes" and get a "gateway" for telephone and internet, if you know what I mean. I arrive to the house and ask the man of the house what was going on so if something was up I could troubleshoot before really delving into the job.

 

Customer tells me he's getting a lot of popping and feedback from the televisions, which made me raise an eyebrow. So we head to where his modem was and I hook up my RF Scanner to the line.

 

THAT THING WAS PUMPING SOME SIGNAL... I mean +24 on Low Band Channel, +19 on Internet Channel and over +20 on the other bandwidths we face. I told him, in my deepest voice, that there was too much signal coming in and asked if there was an amp on the lines. I was told no, so I went out to the ground block (where the cable meets up and gets into the house) and place my scanner back on the main line. Still WAY above spec grade so I went to the signal source, which was conveniently in his front yard, and saw it was a VERY low value tap. I think it was a 6 Tap Value (Lower value, better signal... so 4 is better than 23). I put his line back on the source, head back to my truck and grab an 8 way splitter out of the side. The reason for that is an 8 way splitter cuts the signal by 11. So I hook up the house to the splitter and throw terminators on the open ports that were left. Grounded the cable via the splitter once everything was connected.

 

Go back in, tell the customer what I had done and the reasoning. Checked again at the Modem and though the signal was still high, it was more within operational values. Swap the modem for a gateway, activate the new gateway for phone and wireless as well as internet, swap the boxes and that was that. Took about 50 minutes, all in all.

 

Still amazes me just how crazy high of a signal that thing was dishing.

Re: Putter Grips - My progression was Ping PP58 Midsize cord, Superstroke 2.0 and now I have a Gripmaster Cabretta Midsize. Love the leather grip feel and even bought a back up (was originally going to put it on my Button Back but really in love with the MACHINE so saving the grip as a spare)

 

For future reference if any superfriends have a putter that takes a .370 shaft and would like to try a MACHINE aluminum grip let me know. It is literally just sitting in a corner getting no love, it is installed on a UST Frequency Filtered shaft, not sure of the overall length.

Yessir, I literally couldn't not buy them. Walter Hagen brand, but water resistant and really comfortable. Ive been wearing them as regular shoes. PineHurst will be their first test if conditions permit.
