78.9 is the average at NW right now, wow.

Someone did come in at 66 though. Right now looks like a 5 for 2 playoff at +1 - but still a handful of people left to finish.

2 4 putts and a 3 putt on the front killed me. I'm in with 2 putts. It was brutal. 20mph winds, greens were so fast balls were rolling/oscillating from the wind. I hit the ball very well. Short game was trash. Too bad, really. Tips on all but 16 and 17. Good time. Stayed in it after throwing up on the front.

Nice going, pq. Hope we get a good report. Course conditions. Playing partners. Money shots. Morbid descriptions of the 4 putts.

Bristow was definitely a nice place and the greens were the best I've played on. It was nice meeting new people and putting a name and face to some of the people who post. I'm glad I joined DCGT as Eagle is truly professional and the whole process is great. Dom and I went out first and I didn't think that Bristow was going to allow a 90 degree rule with it being wet and raining. I thought about getting a cart but said screw it, I'll wait. So both of us trekked the course in the rain and there were many times that we didn't see anyone and worried that people stopped playing and we were the only idiots out there. Can't wait for the next outing. Big props to Scott for winning and playing by himself.

NW played so tough today that the 18th ranked hole was #6 - avg score 4.966 (par 5).

The 17th ranked hole #14 - also a par 5 - avg score 5.056.

Dont think I've ever looked at stats like this for say a Tour event but isnt that unusual, that the 2nd easiest hole still averaged over par?

Okay. Posted round with stats on Da Grint. 22 putts on the front 9!!!!!!! Nice performance, Helen. Really played well on the back. Made some nice putts, and a few nice unds from just off of the putting surface.

I 4-putted Holes 3 and 7. Pin was front middle/right'ish on 3. I pounded a drive down the right side and was just in the rough. It was a thick lie, back into a strong wind, slightly uphill, 160 stick. Pulled a 5 iron and LAUNCHED it. Ended up on the very back edge of the left side of the green. Almost putted it off of the green. Then left the come back 5 feet short. Then lipped that out and made a nice 4 footer to save double. Hole 7, hit 4 iron off of the tee. 8 iron from 145 into a stiff breeze. Comes up front edge of the green. Pin is on a ridge toward the back left. Hit putt 5 feet by. Hard lip come backer, get upset, take no time, and lip out a 3 footer. GIR, double. Lovely. Oh, and I had just 3-putt 5. Pin was right in the front. Went for green in 2 and had 25 yards or so from the left rough short of the green. Bad place to be. Hit to 35 feet, left it 6 feet short, lip out putt.

Hit 9 with Driver-9iron just long over a back left pin. Chip to 20 feet and 2-putt.

City will be proud --- I hit driver on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, 16, and 18.

Anyhow, I am happy I came back with a solid back 9 after sort of falling apart mentally on the front. It was an adjustment getting used to the speed and firmness of those greens. It's unfortunately I haven't been able to practice much at all, because with the ball striking, I'm into the Am if I can just eliminate 3-4 PUTTS (not sure if 78 or 79 will get in). 56% GIR on a day like today from 7k ain't too shabby, and my missed greens were barely missed.

Hopefully next year will bring better JuJu.

Nick Meija is a high school kid I played a few rounds with at Waverly. I can't believe he shot +1 at NW today. That's awesome. He seemed like a real nice kid. Delmar is in. Guy can strike the rock so well. He used to shoot 60-something during Friday games drinking beer the whole way through. People are really good at golf.

lots of guys posting 80+ can tilt stats like that. still, i'm very surprised at #17. must have been into the wind or had a severe crosswind or unfair pin or something. not much to that hole, but distance. wide fairway, wide layup, huge green.

highest posted score is 88, but you gotta think some of the WDs and NCs were gonna be higher than that.

isn't 88 some key number? like if you're higher than that, you have to wait longer or prove your handicap or something before you can attempt another qualifier?

how can we find out who won the playoff? or maybe it is still undecided?

You get a letter saying not allowed to play in further USGA events until prove worth if you score more than 10 shots higher than the course rating.

It's hard to really appreciate how much longer NW is from the tommee tippees if you haven't played them. Put that length together with soft, cool, windy conditions - that course was probably playing very long today.

It measured 7380 but we've had....4" or so of rain in the last few days. Probably played 7500+.

Any suggestions on a cheap counterbalanced shaft for fairway wood? Not trying to spend a ton so the cheaper the better. My quest for a fairway continues so I might as well and put a shaft on a 3w head that I like.
