I have one thought on those partial wedges these days. . .keep the hips moving. I'm not always dialed in on distance, but stalling the hips -- for me -- is such a death move on those shots.

 

Funny, my swing thought last night was no matter what, point my belt buckle left of the target. My death blow is when I'm so focused on the length of my backswing with the arms or the speed, that I just flail at it with the arms.

 

Absolutely nothing good happens when you do that.

 

There was a local guy in Dominica who made us the most incredible goat curry that I've ever had. Its probably not something I would have ever had/tried otherwise. Enough spice that it punched you in the mouth but was just fall-off-the-bone delicious. Oh and for the record, my wife planned this trip initially and until @ 6 months before we went, I thought Dominica = Dominican Republic. True story.

Greg.. the tips were challenging.

 

First 3 holes I was on fire... lipped two birdies out.. bot vicious but the ones you go PQ on

 

However, driving was pretty good. Some misses but nothing that I couldn't get near the green.

 

But my irons are garbage man. Par 3s and a few other just horrible shots made my score higher than it could be.

 

We shot a -2 not a great score but probably middle or bottom of the field.

 

The pro I played with first competitive round so low expectations were set a week before the tourney.

Loved the part where he was talking about wedge distance control and he talked to Thomas Bjorn about it and Bjorn was like, "I don't have problems with it because I don't swing as fast as you."

 

PQ and I have had a similar conversation like 50 times.

 

Just good stuff. . .talking about hanging out with young guys, and then getting married so now they're hanging out with married couples. Some of his answers were pretty stock, but it was mostly good. He also took a shot at Golf Double You Are Ex.

Loved how he explained the gaps in his wedges - which were 15-20 yards - and how that can be a problem. Think he said it doesn't sound like much to hit down 1* too much on a wedge but that equals 5 yards more distance which is the difference between hitting it stiff or over the green and making bogey.

 

Just sounds like a guy you'd want to sit down over a few beers and talk about golf stuff with for a night.
