Vintage Wilson set

So for my birthday I found some old 1973 Dyna- power Irons like my Mother played back in the day, on the bay. The woods also from the bay. I have one 9 hole round on the local chip and putt course that the first hole is a par 4 at 270 yards. 3 wood was about 10 yards short of the front of the green. Nothing like the sound of a wood hitting the ball!

The irons felt good(need new grips). They do have a bit of chatter and the faces could stand some clean up and getting a glass bead job.

Those are sweet, the woods are fantastic. I had a similar set when I was younger (early 90s) and I wish I kept my fluid feel they were a cracking set of sticks......but yours a ooze class and say 'top golfer'

A note of advice. The weight ports on these can become loose. If you like the swingweight as is a bit of locktite will keep them in place, or, if you want the heads a bit heavier make sure the lead tape lays a bit on the port. Also, not a bad idea to remove the ports and clean them out.
I have a set and find them quite delightful. No idea about the year on the woods.

Plasticene or Blu-tak does the job. Also, if in original condition they will have a rubber washer inside designed to stop the weighting discs from crashing around (as if!)

I had friends who owned these at the time. For the Wilson gurus, did Wilson ever make the weight discs available?

I made lead discs from old fashioned roofing lead sheet....easy.

Awesome set! It looks like the woods have had a fine re-finish - very nice. I'm surr you will enjoy playing them. I have the button-back irons and I really like em'.

In all my club tinkering experience I have only messed with one set of those irons. Those were for a customer of mine from the old golf shop he wanted the cut down and lightened for his grandson. He had bought them from a yard sale cheap. I did an initial weighing and was puzzled because they had the most screwed up weights for any set I had ever seen. I made a tool to get the weight port plugs out and found out why. Someone had weighted them up some clubs with common washers some with glued together shot fishing weights. Took all the weights out and still had confusing numbers. Decided to tear down bare bones and weigh each head. Some had tip weights and some did not. Someone had really jacked with these clubs because I know the Wilson company would never do anything like that. Ended up putting him a set of pull out Harrison shafts cut to proper length. I had to do more work than planned but I really had gotten into the re engineering part of it and was not going to back down. The gentleman was a good customer so I only charged him for what the cutdown price and grips were which was $6 per club. Every one was happy heck the Harrison shafts were not doing anything but collecting dust and I further educated myself. Actually that was my first experiment in soft tipping
