I am old but not that old. I have heard 2 different things in the past ranging from carrying 5 or 6 clubs bound by a leather strap to a bag with 30 or so clubs in it (no 14 club rule then)

Brassie 13-16 degrees

Spoon. 16-20 degrees

Mid iron probably 3 iron loft

Mashie 5 iron-ish

Mashie niblick8 iron-ish

Niblick loft somewhere In The 50 degree range.

There were various other clubs as well but these were the basics. Specs were all over the place for loft length and lie as clubs were hand made and forged by hand in small artisan shops.

You bought them one at a time. They had hickory shafts and leather grips

No carts you took a caddy

I believe they still used Gutta percha balls. Solid molded pieces of rubber although this was around the time wound balls hit the market

You teed the ball on a mound of sand tee pegs weren't invented yet.

You put real nails through the soles of your shoes

No underarmour you played in tweed.

More than likely you played in 3 hours or so.

You carried a flask of whiskey and two packs of hand rolled cigarettes

Sounds fun

Always wondered how on earth they played in those tweed jackets??? See those pictures and early film of vardon and wonder how??? Like swinging in a straight jacket.....but it sounds so much fun, especially the hip flask of whiskey (and I bet it was the local blow ya head off stuff too)

Love me some local hooch. :)

If you have ever watched The Greatest Game Ever Played they do a pretty good job of showing what it was like. Playing in rain and the bunkers filling full of water and they had to play it as it lies. Men were men and the sheep were nervous. :)

If you haven't played with hickory and fancy a knock then you could PM me. I'm at Morecambe and was at Marriott Worsley Park this afternoon, 1 hours drive.

Hickories provided but the tweed is an option of your own prediliction

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
