I can't take it anymore: What's up with the post-round hair tousle?

Goes hand in hand with the other catch on moves like checking the ball for damage after hitting a 5 iron onto a par 3 green and hitting a putt

I'm pretty sure the aforementioned Spieth and Johnson do it because they are losing their hair and they don't want the obvious wane of their hairlines being captured on camera. Spieth seems to be particularly self-conscious about it, perhaps because he is rather young. I remember Spieth was primping his hair before hitting his second shot on the 18th at Augusta in the final round where he won. He knew he would have to take the hat off after hitting his approach. I don't think it's tour sauce for him at all - it's human sauce. Rory, on the other hand, should probably use his other hand for his tousle. I think ie gesture is one of his nervous ticks, similar to how he talks out of the side of his mouth in interviews.

I've actually wondered why they don't take the hat off with the right hand, run their left hand through the hair, and then switch the hat over to shake hands. Easy.

If tour guys start pulling my move I expect royalties...

That's my move as well, which I need because I have Rory-like hair. Prove that you invented it first. :D

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Even if I proved it, my statute of limitations probably ran out once the move was personally no longer necessary haha

I try to do that. Worst case I poof the hair and wipe on a towel real quick before shaking.

And there's multiple reasons:

Balding, hat hair, (and I shouldn't brag here but) too much hair, there's the no hats in clubhouse rules, the wanting a picture.

Lots of reasons to do it.

I don't wear a hat but I have before. It just feels gross after you take the hat off for the first time in a while. It's all sweaty and the sweat is just gluing your hair down to your head. You certainly don't want it to dry like that. It's hat-hair, just extra gross feeling. But then there are those who think it's like un-manly to care whatsoever about one's appearance and I can see how this probably looks incredibly vain to them.

Tour-issue pocket comb. Rory can keep it in his back pocket, the big black handle jutting out above the pocket cuff and then BANG! there's the Nike logo on the handle. Keep cameras on his backside and the comb handle. More marketing for Nike and certainly improves female viewer stats .

A bag of left-handed junk.

The first time I can recall seeing this phenomenon was with Rory. Now it seems like everybody's doing it.

What is going on with this?

Is this just Tour Sauce? I don't recall ever seeing it anywhere else.

I mean who want's to shake another man's hand after he's saturated it with product and sweat soaked hair?

This gets me every time! And they all tend to use their right hand to "fix" their hair and then shake the hand of the other player. If the player wants to rub a hand through sweat-soaked locks, why not use the left hand? At least then you aren't forcing the other players to partake in the product of your sweat-factory. However, since most guys are doing it now, maybe what's fair for the goose is fair for the gander?? IDK....I'd rather see them hug it out LPGA style than swapping sweat puddles.

The hat-hair is not what gets to me. It's the fact that they smear sweat all over their right hand and then shake hands with their opponents, opponents' caddies, tournament sponsors, rules officials, etc. That's gross, man. Let's push for a LPGA-style "hug it out" instead. That should go over well.

I don't shake hands at the end of rounds. I unstrap the guys bag from cart and take off, when the bag falls off it's "smell ya later suckers"
