Yes, I've used them in a putter for 3-4 years and in the higher lofted wedges when using a lighter shaft.

At first, I used a heavier weight -- not as heavy as your friend's weight -- after a couple of rounds, I noticed that I lacked some feel -- so I went down in weight -- as my hands relaxed more, I found that I could use less weight -- at the moment, I use a #3 weight. Depending on the length and weight of the head, I might use their #5 weight.

The weight quiets the hands and move the balance of the putter up the shaft -- as to playing swingweight, I don't notice a difference.

I had one in a 2-ball blade and it was automatic from around 5ft. in. I never could get a good feel for the putter on lag putts. I believe that if you have time and a few weights to choose from this issue could also be cured. If you have any problem with the shorter rolls (wristy, yips, jerky stroke) this is a very real help, and very easy to put into play.

I tried it for the first time about 3 and a half years ago. I had it in a couple of putters including a 2-ball blade. It improved the distance control on every putt once I got "fitted". I have found that once you try the different weights there is a particular one that once you hit a putt with it, you know that is the one with that putter. Each putter I have had it on was different weights so it has to be fitted with the putter and to you. I have had the same T.P. Mills Tradition in the bag for almost 2 years. The tradition has a heavy head already and then drop a weight in the handle, people pick up my putter and can't believe have heavy it is. I wouldn't putt without a putter being fit to me in terms of lie, loft and length, and then fit with a B.C. weight.

I was thinking about counterbalancing my putter as well and I read on a few different posts while i was searching for some info. that it is not recommended to use more than 15grams? why is that? maybe i misunderstood? If i were to cut 2" off my SC newport 2 and add a 20gram backweight along with some lead tape what would be the effects? Should i ditch the backweight and just use lead tape?

I installed a 40 gram weight about a year and a half ago in my putter and I have had alot of success with it (Counterweighting is also the reason the Heavy Putter works and has received such a good response). I find it stabilizes my hands and helps keep them out of my putting stroke while making me hit my puts more solid. Initially it makes distance control harder due to the decreased swingweight of the putter, but its nothing that cant be adapted to. I don't think I'd use a putter for any length of time without counterweighting it after my experiences.

I've used the Balance Certified weights in several of my putters which I rotate as gamers with others that don't have the weights. The important thing is to get fit correctly. In my experience, the same weight doesn't work in all putters. The head weight as well as style seem to dictate a lot on how much weight I actually need to use. Since I've had a few of my putters fitted, and I've got several of the weights, I usually fit myself before I do a regrip.

I find that when I start getting yippy, a BC weighted putter really helps to smooth out my stroke as well as getting me putting back on line.

So I tried out several different weights from 40g to 110g and like the previous posters said, there seemed to be one that just "clicked". For my putter, a Ping Redwood Anser, 32.5" green dot, it was the 110g. It's like pure butter now, smooth as silk. Takes almost all of the wristyness out of the stroke. Cost me around $55, installed. Highly recommended.

I think it works ..

Sometimes we cannot keep adding weight to the head because it will destroy the flow and rhythm

Adding the weight to the butt makes won't do that.

Example.. Anything more than 335 grams headweight disrupt my flow, the only way to make it more stable is adding backweight. So its very good to experiment with it.

Are you guys ONLY using them in putters??  No drivers, 3wd or long irons??

I think the weights can be beneficial in the lighter clubs such as driver and 3 wood, as well as those which required touch such as putters and your higher lofted wedges. To determine the weight in the long clubs, it's best to get on a launch monitor to see the difference.

Balance Certified now has a shaft stabilizer - which extends the weight throughout the grip.

I'm using a shaft stabalizer 70g. that was fitted by one of my Balance Certified customers. I chose to do that rather than have it show at the top of the grip. It's hidden from view and it's right below my grip deeper in the shaft.

We experimented with different weights both lighter and heavy and landed on 70g. as being what "to me" rolled the ball better off my 2 bar blade.

The result is that I now have the feel via overall weight and still only have the medium weights in the ports. I can always lighten up or go all the way to the heavy weights. The balance point of the putter climbed up the shaft about five inches from normal on my 34".

Fitting once again is key here.

I foolishly let a club fitter talk me into installing one of these into my NIKE T-100 OZ mallet a few years back. It made a mess of the swing weight (took the head/swing weight into the B category, most putters are about a D-2 to D-6 swing weight). The overall package was heavier and I don't believe that I ever got very confident with it. That same putter is now without the weight and is enjoying life as a very happy D-4 swing weight back up putter.

You might find this combination to your liking, the fitter should allow you to try several weights of varying amount. I picked the heaviest and am not sure the advantage of that weight over the lighter weights.

Not worth the $50 to me, I have the weight if you think you can use it.

Well, that's where people, in my opinion, go wrong with the rationale. The static swingweight, of course, changes. But since the weight is wrapped around the hands in your grip, it doesn't really affect playing swingweight. CB weights quiet the hands when done correctly. I've never had the weight affect my play - and I've had CB weights in every club in the past.

What I've see is people going too heavy with these weights and losing feel with the putter. It gets numb like a heavy putter. I've found that the quieter your hands are to start, the less weight you need. At the moment, I'm not even using a CB weight. It sounds as if you needed a lighter weight or just did not need it -- it doesn't work for everyone. But for those who have twitchy hands or need more overall weight in a club, it helps.

I just placed a shaft stabilizer in the driver -- to add a little weight -- it seems to work nicely.

I agree with some of your comments. I traditionally insert a 10 gram counterweight in a new driver and regrip it, maybe it is only in my head but I like that feel when I hit the driver. Same principle as the putter, just works better for me then messing with the balance of the putter.

As for the putter, in my case, it messed up what had been a great putter. The clubfitter turned out to be somewhat of a snakeoil salesman with some of the other suggestions that he made also. I know I am swinging the clubs, but most of the items that he built me are now traded, sold or doing time in the closet. I hold myself accountable for that, allowing the items to be built when I already had excellent items to start with; ie, trying to buy a golf game. I am happy with my bag now and will leave it alone for a bit (putters excluded, I tend to change between three putters on occasion).

Just my opinion, no rights or wrongs here, just different opinions for each person and situation.
