Milwaukee in April

Going to be in MKE for a long weekend in mid April. I was curious from locals what possible options for tracks i would have? i understand its weather permitting. Erin Hills website says it isnt open for play until May 9th

Kohler courses be open that early? having already played The River and The Irish i would love to get rounds at the other two if they were open

would also totally be willing to head to Madison area and play University Ridge or any other recommendations

U-Ridge is always fun. As well as usually dry. The Straits and Meadow Valleys might be open. There's a county course not far from Erin. Washington County Golf Course. Another course that is usually nice and dry. And always windy. Weather is always iffy in April. The Bull near the Kohler courses is a Jack Nicklaus design that's usually worth a go. Never been on it in the Spring though. Same with Geneva National in Lake Geneva. The Palmer and Player courses are very nice tracks, but I can't vouch for early Spring conditions.

Conditions are okay in April. Kohler will be a little cold that early.

The farther west you go the better. Lake Michigan will be a giant 30* radiator and keep anything within 10 miles of the shore a good 10 to 15 degrees colder than what you will find inland. Even if Kohler is open in April it would be colder than a well digger's arse. Spring weather is a crap shoot. We can have snow storms in April. But I hope for your sake and mine we have an early spring to go along with a mild winter.

Boy... I wouldn't really plan on having good course conditions or good weather. That'd be a horrible place to go before May with golf on your mind.

Born and raised in Wisconsin here. Course conditions are going to be early season at best and highly weather dependent. University Ridge in Madison is a great course, as are Erin Hills, Trapper's Turn as well as Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run in MKE.

You should probably be able to play somewhere, unless it snows the days you're here or right before. The nice, higher end courses may or may not be open depending the the weather the weeks before. I doubt Erin Hills will be open, but Washington County which is close by should be. Fire Ridge, Nagawauke, and Morning Star will likely be open too. Either way don't expect perfect, mid season conditions. Brown grass, wet/muddy conditions, and bumpy/shaggy /slower greens are the norm for mid April.

I caddie at Whistling, and we normally open up the straits the last weekend in April for the Kohler cup. The other 3 courses normally open up early-mid April depending on conditions so you may be able to get out on those.
