Interesting KBS Tour Find....Do They Feel Lighter Than 130-120 Grams to you?

Has anyone every felt like their KBS Tours seemed light even though weights are 130-120 range? Well I have in a few different sets...2012 MC's and my current set of Burner 2.0's, which should be heavier than the MC's because it's Taper vs Parallel tips and both felt really light for the stated weight to me.

Here are the clubs that I used to find out that something interesting about my KBS Tour shafts,

1) Burner 2.0's KBS Tour Stiff .370 tips factory installed

2) RocketBladez Tour KBS Tour Stiff .355 tips factory installed

3) TM M2 Demo head tested with KBS Tour Stiff 105....tip size unknown because of demo sleeve installed.

a) What I found was that the KBS Tour 105 shaft steps matched my Burner 2.0 steps exactly.

b) a cut to playing length KBS Tour .370 tip 8 iron shaft weighs in at 105 grams....not the 130 grams as per the web site, but the steps were just barely off, I mean barely. (Shaft was purchased on eBay as brand new at 41" long. No shaft band)

c) RocketBladez were about the same overall weight but the steps were different.

My Burners are over 4 years old, the KBS Tour 105 are about 1 1/2 years old if that.

Back to my KBS Tour shafts feeling light.....I have not pulled a shaft from this set and really had no plans to do so. I bought an extra shaft for an extra Burner 2.0 8 iron head that I have because the range beat the crap out of my current 8 iron head. The plan was to reshafted the new head and make it my everyday head and the beat one for range use. This is what I know the weight of the cut to length 8 iron shaft of 105 grams, which should be really close to the KBS Tour 105 gram shafts when cut to length.

Do any clubmakers on here have both the KBS Tour shafts in both tips and the KBS Tour 105's shaft on hand to compare these against each other and see what your findings are? Weight and shaft steps please.

It's seems like I have been playing Tour 105's the whole time even though they came out way after I had my irons....i like these shafts so it's not a big concern, I just would love to know if this is true or not and what I am really playing.

Thanks in advance

KBS Tour 120's are counter balanced, so they should feel light.

True, they have a higher balance point - but generally that would only result in them feeling lighter if the SW wasn't adjusted back to 'normal' during the build.

The swing weights of the clubs should be checked to see if there is any correlation to the feel.

Cut weight is like 5-6 grams lighter? I get the counterbalance thing, but I mentioned that the cut shaft was 105 grams when the shaft list at 130 grams for a parallel tip stiff. The overall weight is my concern.

Maybe the shaft that was sent to me is not a Tour 120, this is why it would be nice to find out if someone has some pulls laying around and can weigh them to compare.

Digging a bit deeper the .370 Tour 120 is 43.5" uncut via KBS. Cut weight should have been very close to 110-112 grams. What raw length is it?

I see 120 for Reg Flex only.....130 for Stiff....8 iron shaft

Everyone calls the original KBS Tour the 120, particularly after the 90 came out

. The 8 iron shaft is 130 grams at 43.5" long. I'd guess you cut it to about 35.5" so that's 8" of shaft, and weight, gone.

I usually go by raw weight uncut divided by the raw uncut length to give the weight of shaft per inch. This would give close to 3 grams per inch, which would get us to 106 grams after cutting 8" off. This formula is usually very very close. Obviously balance is different in some shafts and some are heavier in different area's.

I do see however many claim the cut weight to be 111-112. I'm sure Stuart will chime in shortly with the definite weight.

Forget the 130, that is a long way from cut weight.
