Indian Lakes Resort - Bloomingdale, IL

I've had family move to the suburbs of Chicago. I've found out that Indian Lakes Resort, a Hilton property, is very close to their house. I may be able to plan a few rounds of golf and stay at the Hilton there in May if I hear the right feedback. Does anyone have any thoughts about Indian Lakes? I've been to the Hilton website and the pics look good. I see some unlimited golf packages there too, so I like what I'm reading.

My only experience here was a 6 hour+ charity scramble (that thankfully had a lot of beer flowing). I remember a course that was in decent to good shape with a couple of interesting par 3s

It's your average parkland course. Nothing special. It's made up of 3 different 9's. I've never played IL that early in the season so I can't specify on the conditioning. If you can get a good deal there then I'd reccomend playing there. A couple other choices within 15 min of the resort that I prefer more is, Schaumburg golf club (15min north) and Klein Creek (10min south). Have fun!

decent course, nothing special as mentioned above.

our company has been doing 2 outings a year there forever.

there is a driving range.

conditions can be hit or miss

maple meadows is a fun course, a bit east of there.

Hey Mark...

They've re-done the course over the last few years. We played it mid December and it was a fun track. The green complexes have been improved nicely. All in all, it's a resort course and very playable. You won't think you're playing Augusta National but it's no cow pasture, either.

Yikes...have you played Klein Creek lately? The course has gone down hill and there is zero sand in the bunkers. It's a fun design but we quit playing there.

Klein Creek was just sold and is no longer a part of the Royal Group. No idea who the new ownership is though.

Indian Lakes isn't bad but it definitely isn't anything special.

Cantigny is very nice. A bit pricey. I'm not sure if they lower their prices in the early season. Conditioning is always nice. Again 3 9's.

Not recently. I haven't played since I moved from Carol Stream 2 years ago. It's a shame because I always liked that layout.

Agree completely. A lot of people aren't a fan but I've always liked the layout. Years ago it was always in great condition but since the acquisition, it seemed to slide dramatically.

I only play Klein Creek when I get their deals on GolfNow and GroupGolfer for $30 or so per round. At that rate it feels like a bargain, if I paid full rate I'd be upset. But there's something about the layout that I really like, or at least I tend to score well there. It is annoying how you cannot tee off prior to either 7am or 8am due to neighborhood rules.

As to the sand, I've always found it very telling that there's plenty of sand in the bunkers on holes 1, 10, 17 and 18, all the ones within eyesight of the clubhouse and in their picture areas for wedding receptions. Everywhere else is hit or miss.

Indian Lakes is a dog track, played there last year with some friends and you will be yelling fore or hearing fore on every hole. The above mentioned courses are MUCH better choices.

I work in the Roselle area, so Indian Lakes is a frequent stop for our weekly office foursome. Nice track with tiered greens, undulating fairways, and 3 9's so you can plan a rotation that doesn't get you stuck behind an outing or a large company league. We tee off around 4:30pm and are able to play 18 comfortably. Believe a Hooters Tour event was played there a while back...

Bartlett Hills up the road is a fun track with lots of elevation change (hence the hills) and challenging green complexes, and the price won't gouge your budget either!
