Funny you mention that as I originally had that in mind. Cdn open was considered a feather in the cap of alot of the greats at one time...more to come.

Sorry to disagree but the facts are that the Black Knight was exhausted after swimming out to Robben Island, releasing Nelson Mandela and carrying him back to the mainland on his shoulders while whistling'He ain't heavy,he's my brother'.

Mandela subsequently caddied for him incognito (the man released years later was actually Winston Nboko, found as a double in a Pretoria labour exchange) but it all ended in tears when in contention the hook that plagued him so often caused his drive to disappear into the deep rough.

To everyone's amazement no Player ball could be found anywhere at all.

Puzzled and frowning G P left the deep grass to make the walk of shame back to the tee and it was then that the explanation dawned on him,he spotted that (out of a deep and long standing respect for venomous reptiles) Nelson had tucked his trousers into his socks!

Aaargh!

In April, Nicklaus beats Woods with a birdie on 18 on his 72nd hole, he hits a 1 iron off the tee for position. Jimmy Demaret is 3rd

In May, Johnny Miller gets on fire with the irons and beats Sam Snead at the The Players. Gary Player had an outside chance but his gator wrestling Sat. night wore him out for Rd 4

In June, Ben Hogan has Tiger rolled over like a kitten showing his belly in the US Open. Byron Nelson finishes 3rd because he's still been retired for 3 years.

July, I see an epic battle in Scotland with Tom Watson prevailing over over Peter Thomson, Seve and Bobby Locke.

August, in my dreams, the PGA is back to match play. Bobby Jones takes down Walter Hagen 1 up in a 36 hole final. The semi's had Nicklaus and Palmer ousted.

i would not miss that open in Scotland. I would be all over that 1 and drink as a skunk on the Sunday night dining I was there to see it...

It is my understanding that in the annual get together in Georgia, although Trevino was never really in contention, something about his game not suiting the place, he did however influence the outcome.

...on the eighteen tee Jack pulled a ball out of his pocket, borrowed a sharpie from Stevie, signed and tossed the ball to Tiger, saying,"for your Nickalus room kid, put it next to my poster." Teary-eyed, Tiger could only produce a drive that caused Vardon to exclaim to Bob Jones,"The kid foundered

that one RT!!!"

... when hearing of Jacks unusual behavior, Lee Buck turned to Mr. Hogan, who, with an admiring eye, was watching Trevino hit shots on the driving range, and said,"Jack learned that from me, remember the time I pulled a rubber sna..." Wherein Mr. Hogan gruffly interrupted,"You talk to much kid, just hit balls, my soups getting cold."

Squire Sarazen would be worth a shout at Augusta and maybe Jimmy Demaret would crush them all at that venue?

Bobby Locke won six tournaments in the US including the Goodall Round Robin and Tam O'Shanter in 1947,he added the Canadian Open and finished second to Jimmy Demaret on the money list.Strong contender on courses where precision rather than length is key and his putting was legendary, during the war he flew combat missions over southern Europe in Liberator bombers,1950 saw him win his second Open Championship and repeat victory at the Tam O'Shanter All-American.

I watched a computer based simulation programme the other night 'US Special Forces vs North Korean same',points scored on the basis of weapons, tactics, training etc.

Could the same scoring system be applied to our golfing combatants?

Scores given on a % basis with 100% for perfection.

So Tiger at his best would rate 96%(?) for short game but Jack would rate what? 85%? (Random figures of my own creation.)

Scores would be for;

driving accuracy,

long iron play,

mid-iron play,

short game,

sand play,

putting,

mental strength and attitude,

Bonus points for;

marital fidelity.

LOL!

All that's required now is some genius to put it together....

South Carolina native Bigtimer Charlie Rhiemer reported in the business section of Golf Channel's Morning Drive today,

Acting the part of true American Capitalist, Eli Callaway and Karstan Solheim, on the advice of Donald Trump, parlayed Phil & Ben's bogus journey into a new brand of icecream, dislodging long standing Ben &Jerry's as World #1.

The Donald, acting as spokesman for the upstart startup, revealed since changing the name of their lime sherbet to Augusta Green sales have tripled.

Gavin Caldwell, in a statement released from St. Andrews stated, "There is no truth to the rumor that Berry Berry Turnberry will be among the rota of Phil & Ben's flavors."

After his official statement he was overheard to say, "not as long as The Donald has any stake in the company." "My word old chap, whom does he think he is, Captain of the R&A?"

President Trump, from the Oval Office declined to comment.
