This is right up CrabDaddy's "points for the most punts" campaign alley.

Wouldn't you know it regards his beloved Ravens too.

Propose a bonus for kickoffs through the uprights.

Haha! I almost posted the same thing! JT, thinking out of the box. Bet the old farts, like Matt Bryant, would not be in favor. Janikowski still has plenty of leg, though.

I think it's a bit too gimmicky, but the NFL has flirted with doing away with kickoffs entirely, so who knows. I'd be more in favor of field position over points. Tie game, 0:01 left, kicker boots it through the posts, and that's how you win? Nah.

The Number 3 in total defense in the league is hosting the Cowboys tomorrow night.

Are the Vikings going to find a way to beat Dallas?

Why just why?

This did not need to be a thing NFL. Stop the madness already.

Why? To sell more merchandise. Same with the "throwback" uniforms. I don't know who wants to see the Steelers wearing those prison uniforms (however appropriate it may be :taunt: ) or Denver with those goofy brown and yellow unis with the vertically striped socks (When did Denver ever wear those? Is there photographic evidence?).

I always thought the single color made them look like high school uniforms.

That #3 defensive ranking is relying on the first 5 games of the season, not the 6 since then. Minnesota just doesn't have the offense to muster much of a challenge. Dallas covers easily, 30-17.

Tonight's matchup of the NFL's worst run offense vs the 2nd best run offense got me wondering about which divisions run the ball best or worst.

The NFC North is, by far, the worst. None of the 4 teams averages 100 yds/gm. Collectively, they average 87 yds/gm. (2 teams w/winning records)

The AFC East is the best. Their division average is 125 yds/gm. (3 teams w/winning records)

The NFC East average is 116 yds/gm, brought down by the Giants (#31). (3 teams w/winning record)

I thought there would be a better correllation between running effectiveness and winning. The AFC West has only one team in the top half of rushing offense, but has 3 teams w/winnng records (and San Diego is a pretty solid team).

The Seahawks are one of the worst rushing teams (#27), but are likely to get a playoff bye, while the 49ers are the NFL's 4rd best run offense.

Of the 6 worst rushing teams, 5 have winning records, including 3 division leaders.

I have no idea what any of this means, but I looked it up, so I'm passing it on.

I'm giving them credit for a FR run in for a TD and a garbage time TD, lol.

The pride of Baylor and the QB for the world famous Cleveland Browns is ready to go.

The doctors have cleared him. Now will Coach Jackson give his blessing?

When will he start a game? He has been out since week one.

What is the rule regarding the spot of the ball when a QB is sliding? Prescott's knee touched WELL beyond the 1st down marker. Pretty arbitrary to say the slide starts sometime before the knee touches the ground.

First part of the body that touches the ground sets in motion "where the ball is at that moment".

When Dak's calf hit the turf the football was cradled in his arm and that point in his arm (even though not on the ground)

was short of the marker. It was obvious he was short. I did not know that rule on the spot of a QB slide either.

Collingsworth did a good job explaining it. Unlike I just did.

Crab, you want me to explain it using abbreviations? inside humor

So at FPOC, the VBP is where it gets marked?

I was watching on my phone and the broadcast cut out before any explanation (hence my post). Would love to have seen Collinsworth go through it, because it looked to me like his knee hit first and the ball was past the marker when it did.

Maybe Dak needs to take sliding lessons from Flacco.

I don't believe it's where the knee hits. I believe it's where he initiates slide.

I'm a huge Cowboys fan but he was short, IMO.

I don't want to drag this out, but how do you determine where a QB "initiates" the slide? There's a point where you "squat", the weight is farther behind your legs, and right leg curls under the left, but picking that moment in real time seems pretty arbitrary.

Anyway, Dallas is 11-1, and I think winning an ugly game is kind of big deal. They had to get it done on a night when not much was coming easy.

No it is when you achieve the slide position "body horizontal and parallel to the ground or playing surface".

And to the guy one post above youmBaseballfrk Crab it was gone over in detail and explained completely by Collingsworth, and that is what I am basing my explanation on.

I was so unsure also as you two men, but after the explanation it was clear as heck. He was not close at all. Thus

the challenge by Minny. What ever the distance on Dak from his foot to his sternum (where ball was cradled by Dak)

say twenty four inches was the amount he was short of the first down by. Help any CrabDaddy.

And Crab the only one who even closely resembles Flacco's horrible slides is RG lll.

Dallas is saving their loss for the playoffs.

Yes it seem arbitrary indeed, but when you have seen thousands of slides on the base paths as you and I have, you

know when he is leaving his feet and getting ( as you say weight shift to farther behind your legs) ready to

assume the slide position.

I am sure there will be a article today that will clarify it better than I did.

Sorry I probably only added to everyone's confusion.

Maybe you are right as I did not see a false start by a Minnesota lineman. That mistake by the ref was rather large and

a second chance for Bradford and his offense should have taken place. That will no doubt be the largest BLOWN call

in Week Thirteen of NFL action.
