Scotty Matador Medium vs Pistolini Grip On Newport Select 2

I have a 2014 Newport select 2 and it came with the Pistolini grip, I was thinking about getting a Matador Medium size grip, which superstroke would it be equal to? Has anyone made the change? I think the larger grip would help me keep the putter straighter through impact.

I don´t know which superstroke it would be equal to but keep in mind that the matador grip is heavier so the putter would feel much lighter if you switch to a heavier grip.

Thanks, I will have to go to Dick's and putt a few with the Matador grip to get a feel for it

I made this exact switch and love it. The size is hard to compare because it's still a pistol shape, thicker at the top and tapers down to the bottom. But its closest is probably a 1.0. The width is same but the butt end is "deeper" like a pistol grip by quite a bit.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments and those pics! I went to dicks and hit the new 2016 Newport 2 with the Matador and liked it. When you made the switch did it feel lighter or heavier? The one thing I do not like about the new Newport 2 is how light the head feels, it had the 10 gram weights which is what my Newport 2 has also.

Mine had the bigger of the two, I think the pistolero (whichever one is bigger of the two pistols) and I think it weighed in around 83g or something like that. The matador is pretty much the same weight at 85g on the mid. It's probably heavier than the smaller one of those two mentioned. Being honest I swapped mine so fast I can't comment on the feel before, but I don't remember it being drastic. Mine is a 34" with the 15g weights. I believe the heads are 330 plus whatever weight is in them. Mine feels very balanced to me now.

I had a SS slim 1.0 on a putter I was using last year, and I would say that is close to the matador mid. Although they feel different due to the reverse taper on the 1.0. I have the Matador Mid on my current Cameron, and I will say that I really like it. Fits my hands perfectly. I've had the pistolini before and it felt too small for my long fingers. Then I tried the Pistolero. I Didn't like the skinny side to side width with the taller top to bottom. I can see why some might like the Pistolero though, as the flatness of it may help feel "square" during a stroke, such as the Flat Cat grip. But after trying the Matador Mid, I think I'll be sticking with it for a long time.. (Although this is Golfwrx, so how many of us stick with anything for a long time..... LOL )

I tried the new 2016 NP2 with the matador grip and have to say it felt really nice to me. I have a 2015 NP2 and was thinking of putting a matador grip on it but wonder how it would effect the putter balance. The matador grip seems to be 85 grms while the standard pistolini grip is 78 grms, a difference of 7 grams... I wonder is that noticeable or will I need to up the head weights to maintain the balance (my NP2 is 35" and I put 15 grm weights in it, normally 35" has 10 grm weights)

My 2014 Newport had the pistolero. It's the one that is bigger in the top hand than the pistolini. It weighed 83 grams. I could not tell a difference in weight. It's doubtful you would feel the difference but possible. I think difference in weight grip is a little less perceivable than headweight IMO.

Enough that I felt the head release better than with the 10g weights so wondering if anyone has gone from the pistolini to the matador (I think the pistolero is a similar weight to the matador) on a 2015 Select NP2 and if they found they had to add to add weight to the head to maintain the feel
