St. Pete / Clearwater Vacation

Hello folks!

 

Hope all is well and hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Just wanted to drop by and get some advice on places to play in the St. Pete / Clearwater area. I'll be down that way from Aug 13th - 20th and was hoping someone could give me the low-down on reasonable options. There will be 4 of us and we enjoy good value when it comes to our golfing experience. I appreciate any advice y'all can give!

We played Dunedin and it was a nice course. Belleview Biltmore is nearby as well. Most of the courses are pretty cheap now and many privates have tee times on golf now right now as well.

I think the TPC Tampa Bay course is cheaper in the summer as well. Good luck!

Does Chi Chi Rodriguez still have a course down there?

Play Dunedin- it's a beautiful old course not typical Florida. World Woods is about 45-60 min away also a really nice course

Your best deal will come on GolfNow. If you prefer to stay close to St Pete and CLW go to TPC Tampa, Bardmoor, or Dunedin. Chi Chi Rodriguez is still there, and it's dirt cheap, but there are many better golf courses in the area. I've heard both courses at the Eagles were good but haven't been there.

 

If you can venture out, go to World Woods. I loved the Rolling Oaks course, and felt the Pine Barrens course was...interesting. Lake Jovita is another one. Seminole Lakes Country Club was nice when I played it last year.

 

IMO, the best golf is down in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch. Esplanade, River Strand, Rosedale, and University Park CC, are really fun.

 

There are golf courses to suit every budget here. Just depends on how much/little you want to spend.

If your gonna golfnow in Clearwater/st Pete go with bardmoor or Clearwater cc. Both nice courses in good conditions. Seminole lake is a good course but they have had some fairways go south this past spring and aren't quite back in shape. Just north the Eagles and wentworth are very nice courses and easy on the wallet.

The Tampa/Clearwater area is a wasteland for golf.

 

TPC Tampa is an ok layout and in good condition, but not cheap.

 

Fox Hollow in Trinity is a good track and should be in good condition.

 

There are 2 good courses at Innisbrook, but they're pricey.

 

As someone else mentioned, Sarasota has some great tracks.

 

Lake Jovita has 2 good courses.

 

World Woods is about an hour away and worth the ride.

 

Bardmoor, Dunedin, Bellview, the Eagles, Clearwater CC, Dunedin and especially Chi Chi's course, are all dog tracks. Look at the ratings on GN or the other review sites. I doubt anyone of them make "3 stars".

 

A couple of years ago, I bought a "hat" at Dunedin ... it cost more than the Green Fees.

Streamsong is about 1.5 hours away. It is pricey and you gotta walk but well worth it.
