I use them. 90*- putters lie angle. Most will be 18 or 21 IMO

Thanks, Dan. It was actually your earlier IG post with Matt that reminded me to ask this question.

So for those of us that have never had a putting lesson and/or been fit for a putter, sounds like we might want to commit to at least one of those things before buying a training aid that could ingrain a bad stroke.

How do you determine what arc size you are?

Read my post above yours

Unfortunately that only gives a 50% change of being right (less if I am one of the other two) and as they are pretty expensive for what they are, its not worth the risk.

They should have some instructions so you can roughly work out what arc you are.

And what exactly does a 18 or 21 arc mean?

As far as I can see arc refers to the length of part of a circle.

What do you mean? It's the lie angle of your putter subtracted from 90*. 72* lie angle is the 18* arc. 69* lie angle is the 21* arc. It's the plane angle transcribed on the ground. I gave the best instructions I can to roughly work it out.

The arc has to be more dependent than just lie angle, such as arm length and putter length. The longer, the less radius that arc should have. Perhaps their formula is close enough...

I said that's the closest way to narrow down the choice. It's based on a putter swinging on a plane that matches the lie angle. Same way the putting arc and all other path aids are designed. The benefit of this aid is it essentially combines a bunch of other aids. Also unlike the putter arc it gives feedback if you do it wrong rather than forcing you to do it right.

I have one. IIRC, it's at 15 degrees. My putter lie angle is at 72*, but I don't have much arc in my back stroke.

I think this is a great tool for higher handicaps and anybody that doesn't have a lot of knowledge or has not worked on their putting stroke as much. For me, it helped a bit when I start to thrust my hands too much as the putter head will recoil and go a bit outside of the Visio path at my finish position. A lot of amateurs have that issue and it's a great way to check against that.

I have one. I bought the 15. My putter is 71 degrees. I think iTeach has it right. I think 18 would have been better for me - but, 15 is close.

Used it for a while - showed me my stroke was better than I thought - I had no huge glaring faults relative to the training aid. So, I am now focusing on improving my green reading and having a better mental approach / attitude. Nothing can get me much more cranky than good ball hitting and poor putting.

How did you decide on the 15*? Did you see a variety of them and tried it out? -- because according to the "rules" you would be 18.

I think is a good idea but in the UK they cost £40 each 52USD, so its a bit expensive if you get the wrong one.

I have more of a straight back putting stroke. Rules schmules. Plenty of ways to putt and putt well with the same lie angle.

Hi, Lee Sullivan here from Visio Golf.

I don't tend to visit the forums within golf wrx but was curious to have a look through and came across this chat about the 'Mi Putting Template's'.

I have included a link to a video that their creator Phil Kenyon did just over 12 months ago which I think could help you decide but the template are a broad concept of x4 strengths of arc which players fall into.

We have more and more players using the templates both on the PGA Tour & European Tour as well as many other tours around the world, a very popular aid used by all levels of ability and now available to purchase in the U.S.

Good luck Lee

Any utility in purchasing a mat that doesn't necessarily match my current arc, but rather to help engrain a new flatter arc. My putting arc is rather severe and would benefit from some neutralization. I'm debating buying a more straight back straight through template and engraining that feel to promote a more consistent stroke.
