Just wondering if anybody has some MS, MP (11, 14, 29, 33), TP, or TS blades sitting around collecting dust. I would like the opportunity to demo a few of these older sets before I try to go buy a set.

Hey pal. I am a club collector. I have at least 1 set of all of those. Which one would you like to borrow? :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a set of laminated Mizuno woods. 1, 3 and 5. Pretty decent feeling clubs. Other than the steel shaft being a fishing pole.

Thanks for the info... I play current metal woods, and actually can't strike a laminated wood to save my life. I actually, just last night, made a deal on a set of MP-14s, as apparently my inquiry above was totally ludicrous, and some couldn't believe I'd dare ask them to borrow a club.

Thanks for your comment though.

Also, to anyone who might happen across this in the future...

If you ever wonder across one of my post in which I mention owning a set that you may be interested in trying...please don't hesitate to PM me. I'd be more than willing to loan out a club or a set, provided it's not my current gamer at the time.

If you ever get the chance to buy a set of the 85 Mizuno Cimarron blades cheap, jump on them. I have been playing a set on and off for a couple years and they are sweet. I have seen them sell very reasonably on the bay occasionally. I do suggest you stay away from the graphite shafted version though.

All Forged, all the time.
The Sets that see regular playing time...
67 Spalding Top-Flite Professional, Cleveland Classic Persimmon Driver, 3 & 4 Spalding Top-Flite Persimmon Woods, TPM Putter.
71 Wilson Staff Button Backs, Wilson System 3000 Persimmon Driver, 3 & 5 Woods, Wilson Sam Snead Pay-Off Putter.
95 Snake Eyes S&W Forged, Snake Eyes 600T Driver, Viper MS 18* & 21* Woods, 252 & 258 Vokeys, Golfsmith Zero Friction Putter.

Man in Black: All right. Where is the blade? The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide and we both hit the ball, and find out who is right... and who is dead.

Vizzini: But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the blade into his own hand or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the blade into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would hit what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the club in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the club in front of me.

Man in Black: You've made your decision then?

Vizzini: Not remotely. Because perimeter weighting comes from PING, as everyone knows, and PING is entirely peopled with engineers, and engineers are used to making things that are ugly, as the club in front of you is ugly, so I can clearly not choose the club in front of you.

Man in Black: Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

Vizzini: Wait till I get going! Now, where was I?

Man in Black: PING.

Vizzini: Yes, PING. And you must have suspected I would have known perimeter weighting's origin, so I can clearly not choose the club in front of me.

Man in Black: You're just stalling now.

Vizzini: You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong, so you could've put the blade in front of you, trusting on your strength to get the ball off the ground, so I can clearly not choose the club in front of you. But, you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must have studied, and in studying you must have learned how hard it is to hit a blade, so you would have put the blade as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the club in front of me.

Man in Black: You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work.

Vizzini: IT HAS WORKED! YOU'VE GIVEN EVERYTHING AWAY! I KNOW WHERE THE BLADE IS!

Man in Black: Then make your choice.

Vizzini: I will, and I choose... what in the world can that be?

[Vizzini gestures up and away from the table. Roberts looks backwards. Vizzini swaps the golf clubs]

Man in Black: What? Where? I don't see anything.

Vizzini: Well, I- I could have sworn I saw something. No matter. First, let's swing. Me with my club, and you with yours.

[Vizzini and the Man in Black both hit golf balls]

Man in Black: You guessed wrong.

Vizzini: You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched clubs when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never try to win a blades vs. cavity back debate on GOLFWRX when death is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

[Vizzini stops suddenly, his smile frozen on his face and falls to the ground dead]

Buttercup: And to think, all that time it was your club that was a blade.

Man in Black: They were both blades. I spent the last few years working with Monte Scheinblum learning how to hit a blade.
