I'm treated very well at my course and so are the other Juniors.

 

The thing you have to realize is people are always watching you. Someday when your playing alone and chuck your wedge down the fairway because you think you are alone BUT..someone saw you 2 holes over. He tells someone and then that guy tells someone, soon, everyone thinks you have a nasty temper and throw your clubs.

 

You have to be nice, say hello to them first, don’t walk around looking at your shoes muttering hi when spoke to. Walk with your head up, smile on your face and sey hey to every person you see.

 

I work in the pro shop of my club so I'm constantly interacting with our 250ish members. Doing them favors such as making tee times at other courses for them, updating them on the new Titleist D2 driver, ordering clubs for them, giving their son in law a deal on his Green fee, things of that nature. People remember things like that. If I order someone a club when I see it has arrived and give it to them, In a few days I'll ask how you like the driver. Then there’s a 5 minute long conversation that they realize, hey, this punk speaks proper English, has a memory and isn't afraid to talk to people.

 

When you play with other members, be the first to introduce yourself. Say your full name loud so they can hear it, firmly shake their hand. Offer to keep their score. Always talk loud enough so they can hear you, don’t make them strain to understand you. You say pardon me?, and not huh?. They say nice shot, you say thank you. Compliment their shots at least once a hole unless they shank it 5 times and 4 puttïŠ.

 

Repair lots off ball mark and replace lots of divots. DON’T CUSS AND SWEAR!. Act like a gentleman. Offer to get them something from the Clubhouse at the turn.

 

There are many things you can do to leave a good impression of these guys that will make them ask you if you would like to join them for a round next week when they see you on the practice green. They will most likely talk to their buddies about the day and tell them what they thought of you. Soon..word will spread and you’ll know all the members at your course.

 

REMEMBER NAMES, and use them often.

 

There are not too many members at my course that I don’t know. I’d say less then 20. And I have probably played golf with 2/3 of them at some point in time.

 

Good luck and remember, they are always watching and word travels fast.

Ok.. Listin to this story..

 

All the starters know me very well at my home coruse and know that i'm a good golfer. So do most of the others that work there..

 

So last week me and my dad were playing along with two other guys. I was 3 under after the first two holes.. (eagle par 5, birdie par 3) Than on the third hole i had about a 12 ft. putt to got 4 under after three. So i was taking my time, there was a group behind us, and a group in front of us that i had to wait at least 5 minutes at each tee. So after we were walking off the green, the group behind us said somthing. So, i was mad because our group wasn't going anywhere and either was thiers! And i missed my put so that didn't help either.

 

After they got up to the green and i was still waiting on the next tee i went over and told them, not to tell us to hurry up because us and them weren't going anywhere, than one of the older guys in the group goes.. "Oh shut your mouth what do you shoot anyway?!" So insted of sitting there screming i just said.. "You want to find out?" he was like yeah.. So later that after noon we played 9. I shot 2 under and he shot 7 over. I told him to never tell me to hurry up again.

 

Than later that week i overheard one of the starters telling him not to give me a problem again..

Maybe your badass attitude worked once, but I wouldn't count on it in the future.
