FT-9 vs. FT-9 Tour?

"The FT-9 Tour Driver features a slightly open face angle and produces stronger, more penetrating trajectories preferred by highly accomplished players."

 

It looked less hooky. Lofts were 8.5º, 9.5º & 10.5º. The Tour looked better and played better. But like the regular version, they all broke in the end (had one back in the day).

Ping G430 10K 10.5º Chrome 2.0 S (on order)

Ping G400 9º TFC 419 Stiff at 45" (soon to be mothballed)

Jazz 3 wd Powercoil Stiff
Rogue 3iron Recoil 660 F3 +1/2"
X2 Hot 4-AW Recoil 660 F3 +1/2"

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Hm...maybe I should start bringing two drivers.

Or start looking for a backup plan. They almost all either broke where the halves met or the composite body crushed from all the impacts.

Its ok if your just a wimpy 95mph swing speed like me.

BUT as everyone else on here is an Aggressive 115 to 125, thats where the reliability issues come in to play !!

Get a TM R7 Quad or 905T as backup !! Classic, Cool, Long.

The FT-9 was the best driver I ever owned but after the 3rd head broke I had enough. Callaway customer service was great though.

The non tour. The club always separated at the seam on the bottom. It only happened if I hit it low on the face.

The non tour. The club always separated at the seam on the bottom. It only happened if I hit it low on the face.

Mine was the Tour and the composite body basically failed - massive delamination of the body. I've seen it on others too.

No need to hit the panic button. It likely is time to start planning for a replacement since your driver is around 9 years old already and if you believe all the ads, you should be hitting it 135 yards further with the new technology. My 915 is going on year 3 and it is unlikely to see the summer if I can find a head that I like.

I had three FT9-TA bust on me (all in the same place), at the top seam where the face and composite body conjoined. When Callaway replaced the second head, they strongly advised no range balls and no hitting in temps below 50*F (10*C).

 

 

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.
