Colorado WRX 2017

So it's official. My lower back has revolted. I'm joining the old guys club; just ordered a ClicGear on Amazon. The last two weekends hoofing it around Green Valley Ranch and Murphy Creek, I've had to admit that my 35 y/o with a full time desk job self just doesn't need to be carrying a golf bag for 5-6 miles at a time.

I really enjoy walking golf courses. I absolutely prefer walking to riding in a cart as long as the course is set up to be possible... but something had to give.

Let the ridicule begin! :-)

You outlasted me, my man. Think I made the switch when I turned 30. I think you'll appreciate it after your first 18. I didn't get much flak being the first of my golf buddies to get one. Three of them actually got one shortly after I did. Although, there is this one gal I golf with who calls it my stroller...

Lol. That's the first thing my wife said when I told her I ordered it... "it's like a golf club stroller".

I realized that the weight in my bag is all due to my clubs really. Any cart bags weigh 6 lbs or less. My blades with 125g shafts however, weigh at least a 1.5 lbs per club. I was rocking the Callaway HL5 bag and with everything in it the bag is about 37 lbs. My wife has the same bag and hers weighs nothing because of the club weight differences.

I bought the Bagboy Tri-Swivel II and that cart is awesome. Easy break down and folds really small to fit in my tiny trunk. It's all built very solid with thick aluminum tubing and the swivel front wheel is awesome. I won't be hesitating to buy another when this one finally breaks. I was debating between that and a Clicgear and I'm glad I made the choice I did.

I'm definitely in for a WRX outing!

First 2 weekends are a no-go for me in October. Flying to Chicago on the 6th for a cousin's wedding, then got a horror movie film festival in Telluride the weekend of the 13th. But the 2 after that I'm free!

Also, as I'm less than 6 months away from the 30 year age...I'm still going strong as part of the Carry Crew. Till I die. Have fun with the baby strollers, old guys. :p

Voted. One of the weekends I picked I can only do one of the days, but I assume we'll narrow it down after getting a concensus. Thanks for throwing that up there Brian!

And Andy, that is nuts! Where are the pics??? I wonder what prompted her to do that?

Andy - that's nuts. Those tunnels are that wide. Hope she's okay.

I mostly ride nowadays because my courses arent' setup for walking. However, when we play elsewhere (AFA, GVR etc) I push my Bagboy Quad. I like walking but carrying at this point doesn't make sense to me. Even my carry bag seems heavy. I will say I did walk 18 at Blackstone this spring with a Jones bag and a minimal set and it was good but no like something I'd want to do all the time.

Last Christmas I got myself the gift of a push cart...I looked at the 3.5 and the CaddyTek. Ended up going with the CaddyTek from CostCo since it was significantly cheaper than the ClicGear.

Been very happy with it. Currently its $119 @ costco.com but around the holidays its $99.99

https://www.costco.com/Caddytek-EZ-Fold-3-wheel-Golf-Push-Cart.product.100109550.html

One of my buddies has 3.5 and the two carts are very similiar. His has the hand break where as the CaddyTek has a foot brake, not really a deal breaker for me.

The CaddyTek also comes with a little cooler and storage area around the bottom which is quite nice.

This picture is typical of any course in Sweden. You have a push cart, and you walk, period. Very few people actually carry their bag. Each golf course only has about 4-5 electric golf carts to accommodate the handicapped/nearly dead and the lazy. This year was the first time I saw two young dudes in a golf cart.

I almost got the CaddyTek but got a great deal on the BagBoy.

Thanks for responding to the poll, guys. 10 folks have replied already. It's cool that we've got so many who would want to make this happen.

As a quick update, Oct. 21/22 currently leads, with Oct. 14/15 and Sept. 30/Oct. 1 right behind it. I'll leave voting open for another week or so and we'll keep kicking the course debate can down the road.

I can make any of those dates work as of right now. But I vote for anywhere other than Murphy Creek :)

I wish more golf courses did "Broncos Shotguns". I know Murphy Creek had them, and I believe GVR did, too. Shotgun start at 8am, done by 1pm, then go home to watch the game. We wouldn't be doing the shotgun, we'd be playing after they are done.

Redhawk Ridge has a shotgun scramble event in October. It's super fun. I'd love to get a group out there this year for that.

I'm the guy that will record the game, grab a tee time around 11, then fast forward through commercials and typically catch up by the end of the 3rd quarter. It's nice because most courses seem to play quickly by that point.

Exactly what I do!

Let's get a head count and figure out somewhere cool. Some of the nicer courses may be pretty discounted by then too?

I've done a shotgun scramble tournament at RHR in October. It even got delayed 30 minutes due to frost. I played it with three absolute hacks. It would be nice to do a scramble with a team of actual golfers.

Yup. Last year I got paired with a group of 3 60-some year old men. The worst was being required to use a drive (or maybe 2) from everyone in the group. These guys hit the ball 175 and all over the place. It was rough.
