Looking for a few books to download onto my phone and wondered if you guys had any opinions on the best golf books out there. Dont have to be any certain category like instruction, just golf books

John Daly's book isn't bad although I figured it would be a little "juicier" I guess. Currently a few chapters into Hank Haney's Big Miss and its a little slow so far but I haven't gotten into any thing where he dishes on Tiger either.

One of the best golf books ever written...The Match.

A Course Called Ireland is great, too.

Different, but not your run-of-the-mill golf book.

The tiger woods book "how I play golf" is good. I've noticed a lot of them are quite the same... instruction wise

There was a similar thread a few weeks ago and I gave these suggestions.

 

If you're looking for fiction, Golf in the Kingdom and the sequel are the best. If you like golf history, I recently read The Secret of Golf, which chronicles Watson and Nicklaus' battles. I should also note Mark Frost has written three great books about golf before the modern era (one of which is The Match). One of the best golf history books is "The Longest Shot", which chronicles the 1955 US Open where Jack Fleck (a club pro) ended up beating Ben Hogan in a playoff to win.

 

Finally, if you like to read about golf courses, Geoff Shackelford's Grounds for Golf is a great overview of golf course architecture, as well as Dream Golf which covers the creation of Bandon Dunes. Tom Doak's Anatomy of a Golf Course is also a very good book on the thinking behind golf holes and their design.
