I've tried a lot of golf balls over the years. Personally, here are my thoughts on what characteristics are important in a golf ball:

1. Feel: You must like the feel and sound of the ball off the club-face.
   Feeling confident with our equipment and golf ball is important.
   
2. Performance: The ball must provide you with enough spin and distance for your level of play.
   
3. Price: There are many choices out there; more each year. As prices are increasing,
   we need to consider companies that focus on providing competitive, comparable products
   at a price that is fair. Companies such as Snell that are marketing products via alternative, less expensive channels
   to keep their prices down are a welcome addition to the choices we have.

2. How the ball looks. I've seen some dimple patterns that just don't look right to me.

3. Spin. Ever back up a ball 8' with a 6-iron? I have. Geez-lou-whitakers!?!

I need a combination of soft feel, decent spin around the greens, and price. I can't afford to pay 40-50 dollars per dozen for golf balls, so I am usually looking for the best all around ball at the best price.

I'd say the most important thing for me is looking for a ball that checks the most boxes for a reasonable price.

The most important thing to me is Feel. I hate it when the ball feels like a brick.

The second most important thing to me is Spin.

Rated in order of priority:

 

Spin: I need to be able to control spin with it. From low spin on the Driver to higher spin in the sand wedge, ball spin is extremely important.

Performance: Does the ball match my swing? If it's too high a compression or too low, it's not going to play well for me.

Price: I generally don't like to pay more than $30-$35 for a premium ball.

Durability is important as I end up carving some premium balls with wedges. That makes price important as the balls sometimes get chewed up and need to be switched out before I get a chance to blast them into the trees by mistake. Consistent spin around the greens is big as well.

What matters to me most in a gol ball is both feel and look of a golf ball. While most of us playing the game will discuss the distance, spin, and durability, while I consider this in my selection I gravitate towards a ball that provides the right feel to me off the tee, chipping and most importantly to me is putting. The look is how I see the dimple pattern and the logo's on the ball. I want to see a pattern and logo that promotes positive thoughts. I have played the Snell Tour ball which does this for me! I would definitely say lower spin for drives and long irons, but still have a lot of feel and softness for short irons and around the green.

What matters most...control, consistency, bang for the buck (I want to hit it straight...I want my 150 yd club to hit it 150 yards not somewhere between 140 and 160 and I don't mind paying for quality but...leave a little cash in my pocket for the grill room)

Personally, I feel that the most important aspects of a ball are price, spin (off the driver AND around the greens), and the ability to control the ball. Heard nothing but great things about Snell, and I've been wanting to try them out for a while now.
