Thanks gents.

Get the slope feature that you can either turn off of use a replaceable plate. Occasionally I will get to play a course or be in a part of the country where having the slope feature is amazingly helpful. Making notes about how much change in elevation you really need to experience to change the yardage will help you under tournament conditions when you can't use the feature.

For most of us, we don't have great enough control over our game where +/- a couple of yards is going to make a difference but it is reassuring to know that in some instances that the elevation change really does amount to X number of yards. There a a few courses around here that have a few holes where it can be 10-20 yards worth of elevation change and before you were just guessing and guessing wrong a lot. Many times you were changing clubs for a situation where it really didn't warrant any club change.

It was recommended to me recently that the slope feature isn't really necessary for most golfers. In my area the elevation changes aren't that great and holding the device steady enough to get an accurate slope angle are two factors mentioned. I went in thinking I wanted the feature and walked out with a simple Scoreband Pulse for less money and it works pretty well so far (limited use though). We'll see long term but the extra money is a big factor, as well as manufacturer. Something to consider though.

That's true. We just ain't good enough and most of our land is too flat. However there are many who play courses with plenty of elevation and it could be very useful.

If you have the finances or time, feel free to buy a slope device and spend hours mapping out every course you play into a yardage book with the slope turned on, then use said yardage book during rounds like the pros.

If not, might as well buy non-slope since slope cannot be used for any tournament or rounds used to establish a handicap due to the USGA being dumb and making it harder for amateurs to score well.

IMO if you are getting one with slope and plan to play events you must get the one with the removable face plate and leave the slope plate at home during events. Last thing any of us need is to be accused of using the slope feature during an event. Happened to a buddy during a club match play event. Opponent asked to use the rangefinder and declared the slope was on. Buddy has played over a thousand rounds at this club-which is quite flat- and said it was not. Pro sided with the guy who said it was on---DQ after being 2 up through 15. For all we really know the opponent turned it on.

Not worth the hassle. Or get one of the new Precision Pro slope ones for a couple hundred bucks for practice rounds.

New usga rules say that you can use slope rangefinders as long as you disable slope, I'm pretty sure.
