Raven at Three Peaks or Bear Dance?

I'm making my annual trek to Red Rocks this year in June. I'm flying out from Atlanta on Tuesday and I'm looking to play a round on Wednesday and Thursday before drinking like a fish all weekend. I'm tentatively planning on playing with a buddy on Thursday at Fossil Trace. As for my Wednesday round - I'm torn between playing Raven at Three Peaks or Bear Dance, but I'm open to suggestions of other courses as well.

 

Also, I've seen others mention that Raven tee times can be had for about $50 if you wait to book. Is that true? And is that also the case at Bear Dance?

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you've made your tee times yet (not sure you can this far out), but I'd probably say Bear Dance. It's somewhat of a crap shoot for conditions this time of year for Raven at 3 Peaks. I played last June there and there were a ton of super soggy lies. Bear Dance is a great course with some awesome views.

Raven had spots where the grass was bulging due to all the water under it, wasn't impressed with it. Bear Dance is a nice course.

Not familiar with Bear Dance, but typically play Raven a few times a year (mostly early and late season). Nice mountain layout with elevation changes. In recent years, I have found conditions hit or miss at the Raven...some of that has to do with aeration/sanding which shouldn't be an issue currently but there has been a decent amount of rain recently, so don't expect firm and dry conditions. The best deals there are typically early or late season...not sure you will find a cheap time now unless you play late.

If you are planning to play in the area of the Raven, skip it and head to the Breckenridge Golf Club. Greens are best in area this season and with the rain and sun we've had the course is really in good shape aside from some sod around the bunkers that were redone over the last two seasons.
