Atlanta Golf Trip

Hey guys, I am visiting my family in the greater atlanta area this weekend (Friday-Saturday) and was wondering if anyone knows of anyone that could get us on at Eastlake or Atlanta Athletic Club. I am a college Div2 golfer that plays to a +.3 and my dad is a .2 handicap so we would definitely not slow you down. If not a member there what would you say are the best courses in the area?? thanks and looking forward to hearing from you all!

My suggestion to you is try and get your golf coach to call and try to get you on one of the private courses in Atlanta. If your Dad is a member of a club that might help if the pro were to call. Otherwise, good luck. Your not going to find top caliber clubs in Atlanta that are not private.

These are outside of Atlanta, but prob your best options. Atlanta is a heavy private golf club city. Public golf is average at best.

 

1. Echelon Golf Club (tough track)

2. Bears Best

3. The Frog

4. Bridgemill GC

 

All have bent greens so they aren't plugged right now.

It's going to be tough to get on one of the top privates unless you have someone call and then you are looking at most likely a hefty tag to play, especially on a weekend.

 

You may have some success if you (very politely) reach out to a club like Rivermont. It's a hidden gem of a course and you would have fun playing it. I think there are some who are members here on the board, but you could also try to call the owner directly and see if he could squeeze you on.

I agree with the statements above regarding everything that is worth anything in Atlanta is private. That is reason I joined my club, so I at least had a nice place to play that wasn't always super busy. When I do get out and play public courses I really enjoy Echelon. Its along, hilly and a lot of fun. And its really never that crowed. That is what I would play if I were visiting Atl and couldn't get on a private course.
