Pounds, or Euros??

Headed to Scotland in a couple of weeks and was told that it might be better to have euros in my pocket rather than pounds sterling. I had intended and expected to carry pounds. Any advice?

I just picked up my GBP from the bank yesterday, All the caddie fees are listed in GBP. so that is what I am going with. I have not heard or read anything to suggest otherwise.

Definitely pounds required, i live in England and i have been to Scotland golfing 6 times so far this year and i have never come across a time where Euros would be a payment option. But i am sure Euros would be accepted in some places. But why would you get Euros unless you are planning going to Ireland or other Euro countries. Cash never offends

Being Scottish and living in Glasgow, I think I'm qualified to tell you that your Euro's will be no use! Don't waste your time, and your money changing them back when you get here. You need pounds sterling!

Tell your bank where you are going and just bring your ATM, even with the international fees you'll get a better exchange rate taking money out in Scotland than you will get from any bank here

Since the advent of ATMs, I've never reallly understood the need to load up on foreign currency before traveling. Regardless of exchange rate and fee related benefits, by withdrawing cash if /as you need it, you won't get stuck with a lot more cash than you need at the end of the trip, and you won't have to carry a lot of cash around and risk losing it if your bag or wallet goes missing.

Thank you all for the assistance!! I have 300GBP (will get me thru the airport in Edinburgh and by shuttle to St. Andrews!!) in my pocket and my bank is on alert for my ATM card!
