Scotty weights

I will apologize in advance, I did search but didn't see a specific thread on this info....

I bought a Del Mar off eBay and it was cut down to 33" and 20g weights were added... I have since extended it back to 34" and bought some 10g weights of the BST here but they are not threading into the Del Mar. I also tried a 15g from another scotty I have and I can not get it to go in straight and am afraid of stripping the Del Mar. The 20s go back in fine, but can not get them in with the O ring now so I go without them. I would love to try a lighter set of weights but will not force the others in. Is there some difference to the threads on the Del Mar or something? Anyone have a similar issue ever?
