First post of 2018. Phew its been a wild couple of weeks. Took a new years trip to Charleston that was "extended" by 3 days since CHS was essentially a block of ice.

 

I'm gonna need to hit the range HARD down here before the NC trip. Anyone have suggestions for travel cases? Kent?

I borrowed 2MT's bagboy case and stiff arm for Pinehurst last fall. It worked well.

 

Got several recommendations for the clubglove. I might invest in this before Bandon in the fall.

I snagged a club glove off craigslist for $50 and bought a stiff arm for $20. So far so good, but only flew to NC. Flight to Myrtle in mid feb and flying to scotland/ireland this summer will really test the set up.

I also got mixed advice on whether or not to remove heads from adjustable clubs. I didn't remove them, and it worked out fine.

That stiff arm seems like a must. I was gonna check a few of them out in person this weekend. I've never put my babies on a plane by themselves before.

If you don't want to buy a stiff arm and have an old crutch laying around, that's what I use.

I flew with the head of my driver in the bag, because with the CG and stiff arm + cover, it got a little bit tight. It's an older club glove, i think, but still part of the burst proof series.

When I went to Hawaii in '04 I ruined my first pair of shoes on Day 1, just absolutely soaked. The pro shop was selling those FJ sandals, it was the first time I had seen them but I thought it was a very Hawaii thing to try. They were pretty comfy actually, plenty of traction but obviously sucked in the bunkers. They're still in the bottom of my closet - dont think I've worn them one day since.

By the way ggswingtips is definitely over the top with his social media presence. However, he is Sung Kang’s coach and works with some am stud Matt Wolfe at Oklahoma State. He also has had DJ at his crappy mat range for a lesson via the Tristan Gretzky connection right before the Oakmont win. Finally, his student Johnny Ruiz just went from the Mackenzie Tour to the Web.Com and exhibits all the goofy leg action combined with the steep to shallow plane action that gg teaches. Various IG posts proves all of this
