TPC Sawgrass Stadium or Doral Blue Monster

need help choosing

Which course would you play? I have an opportunity to play either one, but I can't decide. Some please help!!!

EASILY SAWGRASS!!! That'd be my number one choice in the world (next to the impossible Augusta)!!!

as a member of Doral... play Sawgrass. The only time they keep the course in good shape is when the pros come to town. And their is practically NO practice facility at all at Doral... If you come you will be greatly disapointed. Go to sawgrass and have a blast.

It's not even close! Sawgrass is the hardest course I have played in the US. There are really no breaks and Ponte Vedra is an awesome place. My family and I go there every year now.

I thought Doral was way over rated, play Sawgrass!

If you can get on Sawgrass, I would play there. The place is supernice, they just re-did the clubhouse, etc. It is an amazing experience. The golf course is ridiculously hard, but it is super fun. When you get to 16, you can see 17 just sitting there, waiting to take your golf balls.

 

Doral was nice, but not as nice as Sawgrass.

I say Sawgrass. I played it once in 1994 and it was AWESOME!!! Super hard but a great track. :tongue:

I just got back from Sawgrass and holy cow, what a golf course. Hardest course I've ever played period. I played the front of the back tees except for the par 3's where I played the Blue tees. I shot a ton but had a great time. That clubhouse is sick! The course just never gives you anything. Second time around I know I could shoot better because knowing where to drive the ball is crucial. I had a few highlights. #9 I played the back tees at 572 yards downwind and hit my 3 wood 10 yards from the green, that second shot is crazy. #18 I played the back at 462 yards into a stiff breeze and smoked it right down the middle. I was ten yards in front of Hal Sutton's plaque in the fairway. I took my 7 iron and hit it 10 feet yelling "be the right club today" all the way, it was fun. Great course and people. $350 is the green fee plus cart.(we didn't pay that:)) You can add a forecaddie as well. A must play for anyone who loves golf.

If you can catch it in good shape, Sawgrass is great. I used to play there quite a bit when I lived in Jax. The condition is not always the best. They should be punching the greens pretty soon as well. I like the Valley course better (it is the sister course on the same property). Doral is almost always in crap shape as well. It all depends on what condition you catch them in...

I've never played Doral but I've played TPC twice now since August 2007. It was in excellent shape last August, but it looked like crap two weeks ago. Heavy play and torn up/worn areas everywhere. It is definitely a take no prisoners course...Pete Dye on steroids. Harbour Town is alot more fun and alot more inviting visually. The whole reason to go to TPC is 16,17, & 18. Those three holes will almost make you forget about the rest. I played it both times from the blues...got killed the first time (mostly from putting), but played much better the second. 17 is a piece of cake. I watched almost every golfer in sight freak out over that hole, but it's no big deal. I hit a 9 or a PW from the pro tees, hit the green and two putted for par, nothing to it. I guess my advantage was that my home course has a hole that is the same length but the green is half the size. 16 is an absolute blast, nut a drive up the right hand side and just go for it. 18 the fairway is much wider in person than it looks on tv. still a big hole to finish on.

havent played either, but its a no brainer to go to sawgrass. My dad has played Doral and says its nothing special, just a florida course with some yardage. Sawgrass is were its att

Sawgrass is definatly harder. #18 on the Blue Monster is no sloutch!! I played the BLUE last year right when they re opened it (I've played it several times) with the new greens and bunker. It was a blast. That said if I could play only one..........Sawgrass but then again I live 20 min from Doral............

Played both numerous times - No question Sawgrass, Blue Monster is very overated in my opinion.
