Project X vs Project X LZ

PX and PX LZ have 2 different shaft profiles. It's really difficult to say which plays stiffer, because that depends on the user.

I have never felt that PX was as harsh as some claim, to me it has a very even bend profile so I can't really feel a particular area of the shaft bending. To me the LZ is completely different. I can only feel the shaft bend in the midsection, and I feel almost no bend in the handle at all. Swinging the club, the LZ feels very soft but it never felt out of control. The reason I stopped playing them was because I had issues with too much spin. Most likely that was a clubhead issue, not a shaft issue as the shaft doesn't affect spin to the extent I was experiencing.

All,

I know this thread is old, but I wanted to write this somewhere.

I am switching out my LZs for normal Project X.

The LZs feels smooth, but I feel like my swing tempo has to be different in order for me to hit it well.

I do not have this same issue with normal PX or even PXI.

I tried the LZ shaft and I found my miss it was left. It produced more draw than I usually do. The LZ has an active mid section which for me didn’t work. Switched to a KBS tour 130 much better for me. My 7 iron speed is about 90-91mph.
Every swing is different what works for some doesn’t work for others. Even with the same swing speed the shaft reacts differently depending on transition and path. But that’s just my BS I am no fitter or expert. I just play one on WRX….lol

I'll echo the last two comments from @Jeri6gt and @NZ315.

I was fit into PX LZ 6.0 last year during an indoor fitting on a mat.  I get steep enough that the turf interaction with the mat caused me to change my delivery (maybe that's a good thing, but it's not natural and I don't default to that when on the course).  After about 10 rounds with the LZ I couldn't get comfortable with them.  I liked the feel in 5 and 6 iron but it felt like a different shaft with short irons.  And my ball flight would move right to left WAY more than I was used to.  I have played a fade my entire life, so a big draw cause big problems for me.

I tested a bunch of shafts on an outdoor range last month.  KBS C-Taper 130X, PX LS 6.0, and PX 6.0 were my favorites.  I'm sticking with PX 6.0 steel for now.  I loved how it had very tight, controlled movement on fades or draws.

I also don't like the active midsection feel.  In my testing, all my favorite shafts were stepless.  I don't think that's a coincidence now.

Wow that’s almost the same for me not as noticeable in the long irons as the shorter irons. Typically have a baby fade to a slight draw on all my shots. I too have a steeper attack and aggressive transition. For many people that might work but not for me. A lot of golfers seem to really enjoy the LZ.

my new i230’s are equipped with the KBSTour 130

2 years after the last comment but just want to throw my opinions in. I was fitted for and own the Mizuno Pro 223 irons, I've never quite got along with them they would often start left and continue left for me and sometimes spin up a bit to lose yardage.

I recently went in to get a retrofit and after some testing of other shafts he put a PX 6.0 into the 223 demo head. Instantly gained the feeling of stability with it. I was able to load the shaft better and easier without having to fight that last second flip-kick I had felt with the LZ shafts. I wouldn't say the PX 6.0's feel stiffer or softer, they just load with consistency and stability.

I purchased a PX 7i shaft and put it in my 223 7i yesterday, and today I went out to the range for a small bucket. --- 100% I will be swapping to the PX 6.0.
