Bed And Breakfasts - Scotland

Question for those who are familiar with B&B's....

 

 

Totally confused. I've seen other websites with answers that conflict:

 

When a B&B says the room has a private Bath, does that mean a private bathroom, including a toilet and shower?

 

When a B&B says the room has an en-suite shower, does that mean it's private? Does that mean there's no private toilet?

 

I've written a few of the places I'm considering and haven't heard back yet. Hoping someone here has stayed in one and can provide some color.

As I remember, en-suite means a bath/shower and toilet in your room, like a master bath in your home. A private bath could be across the hall, but its there for your use only. A shared bath is just that, shared by more than one room. If you could provide a couple of links, I could take a quick peek and see if i can decipher it for you. Oh, one more term, a guesthouse is a larger B&B, I think one that can accommodate more than 6 or 8 guests.

here's a good example. One room has an "en-suite shower room" (no mention of a toilet), and the other is a "private bathroom" with no mention of a toilet.

I'll stand by my previous answer. The Lodge Room will have a shower, toilet, washbasin in a room directly attached to your bedroom, you won't have to go into the hall. The Law Room will have a bathroom (shower, toilet, washbasin) across the hall. Here's the description:

and luxury private bathroom 3 steps directly opposite the bedroom (not en suite),

That looks to be a nice place in a quiet neighborhood.

I got thrown off thinking some rooms were only shower rooms with no toilets, so you could theoretically have your own shower, but need to go to a shared toilet room (sounds so weird to say toilet room but don't want to confuse with "bathroom").

Wait until you get there, you'll learn lots of new terms for things. I think they may use the term "shower room" when there's only a shower, and not an actual bathtub, but that's just me guessing. One more thing that seems appropriate in this thread, the term "restroom" isn't commonly used. If you need to use it, ask for the lav or the toilet. And the lovely brown liquid is whisky, rather than Scotch.
