Kettle Loop @ Erin

Anyone played their short course yet?

 

We are doing:

 

Thursday: Irish Course

Friday: Straits Course & River Course

Saturday: Erin Hills

 

Was thinking of doing Kettle Loop after Erin on Saturday late afternoon and wanted to see if anyone has played and if they thought $45 was worth it and if caddies were even suggested (Erin recommends caddies for Kettle Loop).

it's not a real short course I don't believe, it's just a mixture of the big course with a different setup to stay close to the clubhouse. They have enough land there to build a real short course if they want, but they are trying to provide options for those that stay overnight and don't want to go back out for 36.

 

Nobody has played it since it's new this year and they aren't open for the season.

 

When you go to Erin Hills, ask for John P to be your caddye They have some weirdos, but John was one of the most pleasant people to spend 5 hours with and because of that I played one of my best rounds I've ever had. The other caddie in my group was a very judgmental weirdo who just b*tched about everything. Another guy I had prior spent 4 hours telling me about how great Trump is.. no thanks

I couldn't agree more and highly recommend John as well. I took Dan's advice last summer when I golfed Erin and requested John. I called about week or two before my tee time to request him.I am heading back this year and hope I am able to get him again!

Most people fill out a caddie review card at the end of the round. Maybe call up to the caddie master and ask for his guidance. Considering that you're spending somewhere around $4,000, you might have a bit of leverage.

 

The first time we played there our caddie shared that it was his 11th day in a row of caddieing and that he didn't want to be there. Ah a great way to start a new relationship.

Ask for Tim P to caddie. He's one of my best friends and a good player. I've heard he's a good caddie and he's been there for 4 years.

Clayton Swicker is another good one. He is a great player, I’m not sure he is still there or not

 

Honestly I wish I could give you the caddie my buddies got so you can ask not to get him. He was older and was bitching about everything - he actually had my bag at first and said it was too heavy then John said he’d take me and said not to worry. Joke was on that other caddy as he was double bagging 2 25 handicaps and John had be and my buddy both low single digets that shot 76 each.
