2017 M1 driver

Recently picked one of these up after playing a 2016 for quite awhile. I’ve played 10 rounds with it and it’s hard to believe how much more forgiving it is than the 2016 model.

Also I thought I would hate the sound after watching some of the review videos but I actually love it.

Other than driver I’m not a Taylormade guy at all.

Am I drinking the koolaid or did you find the same?

I'm still rocking mine since last May. Longest time I've had a driver in the bag in years! I also think it's pretty forgiving, especially for shots higher and lower on the face.

 

I like to play my drivers short and the '17 M1 was one of the few that had a heavy enough head to make it play right without heavy modding.

I have not used a TaylorMade Driver since around 1994, but I picked up one of these in May and put an Aldila Tour Green shaft in it. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it, and I"ve hit some extremely long drives with it. I"m honestly not sure if it will be my full time driver, but it has performed well for me.

Have one with a PX Hzrdus yellow and it’s great. Has beat every driver I have tested it against.

I’m very happy with mine. It has a good feel and sound off the face. The adjustability of it is great.

I tried the '16 vs. '17 head to head, same loft/shaft, and the '16 won convincingly due to feel and sound. Didn't notice much difference in forgiveness.

See I find the 16 really hard with a dull thump. The 17 is soft with a crack sound.

Never thought I would but I prefer the 17.

Never played the 16 but replaced a RBZ tour on which I caved the face. I’ve been enjoying the 17. Then again it’s hard not to find something that sounds good after a RBZ tour...

I moved from the Titleist 909D2 9.5 Voodoo stiff to the TM 2017 M1 10.5 Kuro Kage Stiff. First new driver for me in a while. Honestly, I hit the TM about the same as my 10 year old Titleist. I was ready for a change though. I picked up the M1 for $249 at Golf Galaxy and it was better for me than the 917D2, the Callaway Epic, and the Ping G400.

 

I think both the Voodoo and the Kuro Kage fit my swing well. SS is between 97 and 102. I have hit some great drives with the M1, but nothing that makes me think I was missing out by not upgrading sooner.

I also used to play a 909 with stock voodoo. Great driver!

I’ve got a tour issue 440 that I paired with a HC evenflow Black and it’s the bomb. It replaced my 915 D3 that played for 3 seasons.

Only time it feels hard to me is when I don't hit it in the center.... In the center it feels really nice and really lets you know you caught it. The feel isn't great with mis hits, but the performance is still pretty impressive, IMO. I really liked the 440... got some good numbers with it but I like the '16 enough.

Been struggling off the tee lately and I've tried a few this season. Had the 915 D2 last year, tried the Epic, and picked up a 2017 M1 with Project X HAZRDUS Yellow. Hopefully will be here for the weekend. Had a 2016 M2 and really struggled with it. I'm not sure if it was a shaft issue, or a "me" issue.

 

I ordered this in a 10.5* loft with the idea that dropping down in loft a little will help me open the face.

 

I picked up a 2017 M2 fairway (5W) and really enjoy the sound of it. Still playing the 2016 M2 3 wood.

I agree with the thump vs. crack difference (a very slight one), but I think of the '16 feel as more of a solid, reassuring feel as opposed to "hard." Different strokes, I guess? Or you had a lemon of a '16 you tried out. Who knows.

I switched to the 440 from the 460 and had better results overall. Anyone else tried the two and see a difference?

Switched to the M1 440 last year and I’d have to say it’s the best driver I’ve ever hit. Recently put in a Tensei Pro Orange and the combo is just unreal.
