fujikura speeder evolution 661 in 3 wood

A friend has this shaft in their Rogue Driver and loves it. Would it be out of the question to change his Xhot 3 wood to this same shaft? Would he get similar results in dispersion using the same shaft?

Why not? Its not specifically a driver shaft. Just tip it an extra half inch than the driver is tipped and throw it in there.

It should be tipped more because the 3 wood head is heavier than a driver head and causes the shaft to be more flexible. You tip it more to stiffen the shaft a bit and maintain a similar flex between the two clubs.

That is a great explanation of what tipping does when putting them in fairway woods. I never understood why that was recommended until now. Thank you!

I assume you're talking about the original Evolution (blue one). This is a great fww shaft imo. I have the 757 in my m4 3w and love it. High launch/mid spin. Stable feel but not boardy. They can be had at a nice price now too if you can find them.

Might be too light for a 3w, especially if he shortens the playing length at all.

Try the 757 speeder instead.

Better in 3W or 7W? I've got one in a driver and I'm thinking about pulling it and putting it in one of my new fairway woods (AI Smoke TD 3W and 7W). What would you do? I've also got a Ventus Blue 6S laying around. Would love to use these two shafts and save some money, but which one goes in which head? Am I being penny wise and pound foolish? FYI, I've got a Red TR 6S in my driver....

I'm purchasing 3W and 7W (both Cally TD). I've got a 661 Speeder Evolution (the original blue) that I'm pulling from an old G400 MAX driver and I've got a Ventus VC 6S that I'm pulling from a TSR2+. I'm going to build the 7W like a HeavenWood and put a 4W length shaft in it (basically the same as the 3W). I want the higher launching shaft in the 3W. Any suggestions?

Wow this is an old thread. Love it.

I would put the 661 in the 3w mainly because I think anything 60g is too light for a 7w.

The Ventus blue is a great 3w shaft as well. I have the new Ventus + blue 7s in my Qi10 3w and it’s such a good club.

Btw I too have a Ventus Red TR 6s in my driver right now. My fav driver shaft at the moment.
