It's official now.

Good news for some CC members who will be able to play reciprocal.

Death blow to the CR members who have enjoyed a quiet and peaceful course with 300 members. Those days are over and sadly CR will become like many other CC facilities overrun with too many members and outside events. What's really ironic is many CR members are former CC members who tried to escape the CC madness.

Ouch, not sure where you go as a CR member in that part of the world but being part of the ClubCorp world would not be an option for me, not worth the misery.

I am sure there was a quota of responsibility from CR members letting it go to Clubcorp. CC only buys when the club has $$$ issues, and usually the club approach and sell the idea to Clubcorp, not necessarily the other way around. By club, I mean it doesn't have to be a formal club request to clubcorp, but management frustrated by members or membership, overly aggressive members that don't care about the decay of installations, member's family not caring for costs, etc. It is a rule of life like death and taxes that if you belong to a private, eventually assessments will come.

Was CR an equity club, don’t recall it being so. When I lived in the area I received a good number of calls and offers, and don’t recall it being a democracy. All of that was before the boom in North Texas.

In my experience with ClubCorp, you'll see some changes over the next year. Usually, there is a decently sized investment from CC to the clubhouse or golf course. In most cases, it is one size fits all. But, in areas where they have a lot of courses/options (like Dallas, Atlanta) you have a tiered system. Someone from the least expensive club shouldn't be able to access a club 2-3x more expensive in monthly dues and CC doesn't just let you do that.Obviously, they want you joining the club that's the most expensive, not the least.

This all sounds like a bunch of 1st world problems.

I don’t know, I’ve suffered through a ClubCorp relationship and would never do it again.

You were fortunate - I was in management at a club that became part of the CCA (ClubCorp) "family" - their first thought was to let me go to one of their "facilities" in a very hostile environment, that they were going to divest themselves of anyway.

Like many members, I jumped ship, and have never really wished to go back.

YMMV

It's usually an indicator that the club is failing financially. So your choices are to fail or get bought.
