What to do for fundraising. . .
Title pretty much says it all; my team would like to get jackets, hats, balls, and bags for next season. There's a couple of us, including me, who are willing to buy our own stuff. However, most of our team isn't very serious about golf and don't want to fork out any $. Also, our golf coach is a tool. He won't help with anything. So ideas for fundraising over the winter/early spring is what I'm after. . .

I'm almost in the same exact position. The athletic director for my school, or my school administration, for the most part couldn't give two $h!ts about the golf team. So instead they allocate pretty much all of their funds to the basketball dept. (which they are building a 3 million dollar dome for the school) and the can't freaking shell out maybe $500 for nice ping golf bags. I am just really frustrated like you. I go to private school too btw.

I don't know if any restaurants have this by you, but by me McDonald's and this one pizza place have this program where you're club, team, organization, etc can come in and work one night, serving food or cleaning tables and dishes, and if you make more money than during that same time the previous week you get a certain percentage of the profits. Our team never did that, but you could check into something like that. You could do a fund raiser through Dominos or another pizza place, if you have something like that by you. Talk to the manager, for like $10 you sell a little card with a free pizza, some buy one get one free things, stuff like that. Our team also did a thing called a Drive-A-Thon. It was kinda cheesy and with our coach it was never the most organized thing. But you'd ask for pledges, either per yard, or just donate like $10. Then you go and have a long drive contest. Our coach got a couple of the courses to donate a few free rounds of golf to raffle off to people that donated.

Just a couple ideas. Our football team hosts a golf outing every year, they raise a ton of cash from that. I guess some teams hold invites that they make a lot of money from too. Car wash idea isn't too bad, if you have a couple good looking friends that always draws a crowd.

Here's an idea that will bring out alot of the students. A Halo tournament. Like 5 bucks a person, for 4on4 team slayer or something. Offer cash for winning or something. If you advertise around the school and other place in your hometown you'll bring in a ton of people. Just make sure you have enough XBOXs and TVs.

ok so who's gonna give up their xbox for total strangers to use and where are the TV's coming from

Its called having friends, a lot of my friends have xboxes, and if you need 8 TVs, i dont think that would be too hard seeing as most people have 3 or 4 in their house

I talked to a few golf pros around the state and we're going to sell discount books for many of the courses around North Dakota. I didn't really want to have to do something like this because I don't think many of the team members are going to make an effort to sell.

Having a tournament is an idea we were thinking of, however, it would have to wait until after our season is already over so the timing just isn't right for this year. I'll just keep my ears and eyes open around town to see if any local businesses require any help we could pitch in. . .

Thanks for the suggestions,

mills.

EDIT: May I also point out that you also have 16 clubs. . .was that a mental lapse? Or did you just feel like being a dick?

my team and I went to a few local charity events and sat on a par five, we offed them two drives (probally the best players on the team hitting them) for 20$. we raised about 500 dollars an event without alot of effort.

plus the whole team doesn't have to attenned

NOTE: of course you have to get permition from the TD first but it shouldn't be a problem

Dear Miles,

I can't help you with fundraising techniques, but I can tell you this. Callaway Golf has a VIP Program that offers new equipment, from clubs to bags to apparel to shoes, etc for about 45% off. I bought a FT-5 Tour 8.5 with a Diamana 63-s Blueboard shaft for $377, retail is $675 . You have to get in touch with Callaway and inquire about this. I know some high school teams that have this setup. Get your coach and press him to do this. Other golf companies offer the same deal for college teams, but Callaway is the only one that I know of that offers it to high school.

actually its 44.2 strokes off but anyways...

look into callaway VIP and call some of the OEMs, do a charity tournament, bottle drive, etc.

My school i dont mind not fundraising though last year we got all of our golf, which i played 15 matches including exhibitions, though 8 were to my home course, along with a TW hat with our school embroidered on it and a coolmax golf shirt for 125. This year though we will probably get more expensive shirts so it will probably be around 150, but thats less than one tournament

Guys, I did some cleaning of this thread. Basically, lets not call out each other for anything, number of clubs, what they shot, etc. Again, nothing nice to say, please don't say it. Message has been sent to the initiator, back on track now.

thanks guys
