Picked this putter up today

Its in fair shape, is it worth to have restored or leave as is

My gosh. Someone had no mercy on that thing. Yikes.

 

I can’t imagine a generic Newport stamped for a group outing would be worth anything special, but some of the hardcores might know more about it.

 

If you can stand looking at it you should just play it. Refinishing often costs well more than a putter is worth when it’s done.

I have seen a few of them.. it isn’t sought after or super valuable, but it is a great putter. Do a bos refinish if you have to do one or just clean it up and play it as is..

I picked one of the 1/115 1998 American Film Institute Golf Classics last year.

The cool thing this putter is that it is an Oval Track. The Oil Can finish has a ton of blues and purple in it.

November 2nd. 1998 was the first annual American Film Institute Golf Classic held at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palacades, CA.

I can just envision a young Scotty Cameron giving away Newports and Hob-Knobin with the likes of Clint Eastwood, Sly Stalone, Ray Romano, Jack Nicholson, other actors, film directors and film producers.
