Beginner: Ping G Series SF Tec 16` or Taylormade M2 3HL 16.5'?

Hi everyone,

I am looking at getting a Fairway Wood with around 16 degrees of loft on it. I would prefer either a Ping or a Taylormade. From my research I've come up with the G SF Tec (16') and the M2 3HL (16.5'). Please note that I am a beginner and I haven't really developed any particular behaviours (slicing, etc) so I don't know how much the G SF Tec would help me right now. But I've heard it is more forgiving than the TM which is really what I'm after.

Basically the question is will the SF Tec technology help or hurt me in the long run?

 

Anyone have any thoughts on which one I should get or any experience comparing them?

If you don't have a tendency to slice why consider the SFT? Just go with the standard. If you have difficulty getting a FW off the deck get 16 degrees or more loft.

Go with the M2HL. They are low spin and lonnngggg so the added loft of the HL will help you.

I'm single digit cap and I play 4 SFT woods. Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood and 7 wood. I do not slice a ball, and the SFT does not hurt you. The SFT , per tests, will change a 5 yard fade to a straight ball, and straight ball to a 5 yard draw. The SFT is easier to turn over right to left but does not turn a shot into a huge hook. For people that don't have a big release the SFT is a great club. I've sold 3 of them to my golfing buddies after they hit just one tee shot. They ditched their drivers and bought mine. I ended up buying 3 new drivers as a result.
