Hunting Creek - Hole 1: Strategy Planning

I'm not sure this is the right place for this. Honestly, I'm not sure there is a right place for this... but @JAMH03 and I were having a discussion, and I wanted to discuss if further. If someone wants to tell me to pound sand and take it to PMs, I get it.

 

I am working on overall strategy on my home club. I have other issues to work on, but I can always improve my approach to each hole. The front nine has been killing me. We open with what should be an easy par 4. I made par today, but worked for it (decent drive, bad wedge shot, two putts).

 

 

Here's the yardage book upload. From my perspective, there isn't a clear point of aim (I basically plan on carrying the trap with a draw). I can get close to the green with a big drive, but the large tree by the green and to the left can easily impeded success. Aiming too far to the right brings rough into play, and our rough is rough. Current strategy with clubs in bag is to bomb driver over trees on left (they aren't in play on a good drive, just my target) and put it either far enough forward that the tree isn't a problem or far enough right that I'm not worried about. Green is pretty big. I feel like this should be a good birdie opportunity but I'm usually happy to start my round with a par.

 

I think the ideal infinite club strategy would be to hit a 260 yard tee shot into the fairway and try to put a wedge close.
